Carole Radziwill reacted to Jessel Taank‘s questions about her late cousin, Carolyn Bessette, while appearing on Jeff Lewis‘ radio show on Monday.
As she slammed Jessel’s comments about Carolyn, which included a suggestion that the Kennedy family was cursed, as “inappropriate” and “intentional,” the 63-year-old Real Housewives of New York City star admitted that filming season 16 was “traumatic” and made her cry daily.
“Jessel was not asking questions. She was just like, telling me that she had had this experience at some magazine, and she was discussing the Carolyn Bessette aesthetic and ‘What do you think about the Carolyn Bessette Summer?’ There were no questions except for ‘Was she a b*tch?’ I was like, ‘What the f*ck?’ Like seriously. So that was my initiation,” Carole recalled on the September 28 episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live.
While she admitted that Jessel was “maybe” simply trying to connect, Carole said that her inquiries felt “very intentional” at the time.
“It felt at the time intentional that, I don’t know, there was no reason for her to be like, ‘Well, what do you mean? Why aren’t you having a Carolyn Bessette Summer?’” Carole noted. “Listen, this is my first time in my entire adult life I’ve had to navigate questions, inappropriate questions, about my family.”
Looking back, Carole said she didn’t want to give too much of a reaction to Jessel’s questions.
“I wanted to give it no energy, and you could see I think in the show, I was just like, I didn’t want to talk to her about it,” she explained. “And that usually works with people, but also, I knew I did not want to get into an argument about Carolyn.”
According to Carole, the moment with Jessel was “really hard” and “painful,” especially since it happened in the midst of the release of Love Story, which was written about Carolyn and the late John F. Kennedy Jr.
As RHONY fans may have seen, Carole went through a challenging time having to relive the heartbreaking loss of her cousins amid season 16, and she was further damaged when she learned that one of her unnamed ex-boyfriends had auditioned to play her late husband, Anthony Radziwill, in the series.
“The whole six weeks was very, it was very traumatic, really. I don’t think you see all of it. There are scenes where I’m like, really crying. I don’t know what gets in the show or not, but I would say the first three weeks of filming, I probably cried every morning. And then I would take a shower and, like, put on a smile and be like, ‘Okay,’” she shared.
