Days of Our Lives has Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) is working for her soon-to-be stepfather, Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti), but the question is if he’s making Sydney do dirty work that will harm her dad, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). And is it willingly, or is Sydney an unwitting pawn in Dante’s game?
Days of our Lives: Sydney Working for Dante
So, we know that Sydney just finished her MBA and her law degree from a prestigious European university, and she’s working for Dante, her mother, Sami Brady‘s (Alison Sweeney) fiance. And he offered her a job upon her recent graduation. Dante even bought Sydney a seat at his recent high stakes poker game in Monte Carlo. And we know that she learned to play cards from her grandpa, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).
And Sydney even got to keep a cut of her winnings that night. But we learned that Dante and his old boarding school roommate Dominic Marino had planned for Philip Kiriakis (John Paul Lavoisier) to lose or to win, but not win enough to save the house and business. So, that worked out for them in one way, but then in another way it did not. Because as you know, Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) caught the cheating poker player and Dante had to kick the guy out of the game. And then Philip did win the poker game, but it was not enough money.
Phillip Gets Lucky on DOOL
But then Philip won big at roulette. And recently he and Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) got the money to pay off the loan to save Titan Industries. And as far as we know, Sydney was not aware that Dante was working with Dominic. We know Dante is reporting to Dominic, but Sydney might have been brought into the poker game as a distraction or as somebody else to knock Philip out of the race. I do not think it was an accident that Sydney was at that game.
And now EJ’s daughter is in Salem and Sydney’s working remotely for Dante so she can spend time in her hometown. And at the moment, it seems like Sydney is unaware of the deeper secrets that Dante is keeping from her. Like, Sydney had no idea Dante knew Dominic. And Sydney seems to view Dante in a positive light. Sydney said he’s been very good to her. He’s been really good to Sami. Plus, Sydney defended Dante and talked him up.
Days of our Lives: Dante Using Sydney
Yet, there has been speculation that Sydney may have been schooled by Dante to help carry out Dominic’s agenda. If it’s true that Dante’s using Sydney for business and personal agendas, that could raise some red flags for Sami and EJ as her parents. Not only that, but Sydney was caught vaping weed at the mansion when she first arrived in Salem, something that EJ finds disgusting and immoral.
Ironically, later this week, Sydney attends her sister-in-law, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens)’s baby shower, and spoilers tell us that Sydney and the other guests may accidentally eat some pot brownies served by Paulina Price (Jackée Harry). Looks like she grabbed the wrong ones because Lani Price (Sal Stowers) had made some pot brownies for Chanel’s nausea.
So, we’ll also see Sydney make a startling admission. So, maybe the weed loosens up her lips. And I wonder if Sydney will say something incriminating about Dante. You know, Sydney could blurt something about the poker game or mention that her brother Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) is hiding something. So, it makes me question if Sydney vaping marijuana is a habit she developed on her own or if Dante taught Sydney to be a pothead for some reason. That would make both EJ and Sami livid if Dante is responsible for getting Sydney high and into casual drug use.
Dantes Mysterious Connection to Dominic on Days
And there’s definitely more than meets the eye with Dante’s connection to Dominic Marino, especially now that we know that Dominic is Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall)’s son. So, we’ve seen Dante secretly reporting back to Dominic about the Monte Carlo poker game. And either Sydney did not know of the Dante-Dominic connection until Belle Black (Martha Madison) and Marlena told her about it because they had gotten it from Paul Narita. Either that or Sydney’s a really good little actress and is faking, but she seemed legit shocked and Sydney offered to ask Dante about Dominic, but was told no.
And Sydney sees it as no big deal. She trusts Dante, but once word gets out that Dominic is Sydney’s uncle on both sides of the family tree, things may change. And I wonder if Dominic will have Dante give Sydney a job assignment that could harm her dad, EJ, in some way. Both Dante and Dominic seem like they have got a bone to pick with Sydney’s dad, EJ.
DOOL: Dante Jealous of EJ?
And Sydney recently pointed out that Dante told her Sami will always love EJ. Maybe there’s jealousy in there. Dominic also seems like he’s ready to step in as Stefano’s heir, a parent, and take the title from his brother EJ. In recent episodes, we had Sydney and Johnny having a heart-to-heart. Johnny was talking about wishing he could move to Italy right now, but Sydney wants to stay in Salem longer. And Johnny told Sydney EJ’s into some shady stuff. And that’s when she told Johnny, “Okay, do not tell me anything else.” Because legally, if he told Sydney more stuff, she would have to testify as a witness.
So, Johnny stopped short of telling Sydney everything about the pharmaceutical scandal. And so far, there has not been any on-screen confirmation that Sydney is actually doing Dominic’s dirty work through Dante. And as far as we can see, Sydney appears to be unaware and is being kept in the dark so far by not only people in Salem, but also Dante and Dominic in Italy. But Sydney’s aunt Belle and grandma Marlena are real suspicious about Dante and Dominic’s secret connection. And now that Marlena knows the alleged truth about Dominic being her son, then Dante’s connection to Sami and Sydney could become a source of worry for Marlena.
Days of our Lives: EJ in the Dark
Now, we know Sami’s engagement and Dominic buying the Kiriakis mansion are absolutely one hundred percent not coincidences, but just how much does Sydney know? And is she keeping things from loved ones and family in Salem? Sydney could be just a pawn in this twisted game for Dante and Dominic to assert their power in Salem and over the DiMeras and to mess with Marlena’s family.
One thing is for certain, EJ seems totally in the dark about exactly who Dante and Dominic are. Sydney’s dad, EJ, only knows surface level stuff, like that Dominic is a billionaire who wanted the Kiriakis mansion in Salem for reasons that EJ can not figure out. And he really only knows Dante as the billionaire fiancée of his ex-wife Sami. And Marlena and Belle now know that Dante and Dominic have a link. But I do not think anybody’s going to help EJ out and give him this crucial piece of information.
Maybe Sydney will tell him, maybe not. And in the end, if Dante has manipulated Sydney into working against EJ, I’m quite certain that Dante would have done it on Dominic’s marching orders because the newest DiMera seems to have a huge grudge against his brother EJ and may be using his daughter Sydney against him. That would be the perfect and very DiMera thing to do.
