Porsha Williams revealed how much she made for her first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta on a podcast on Thursday.
As she also admitted that many cast members spend more than they make, dished on the advantage of being on Bravo, and reacted to Shamea Morton, 44, comparing the end of their friendship to a divorce, Porsha, 45, confirmed she made less than six figures for season five and seemingly shaded Shamea’s lack of authenticity, as well as her lack of storyline.
“My first housewife check was around maybe like, it was nowhere near $100,000. It was like, maybe $60,000-something,” Porsha shared on the October 1 episode of Monét Talks with Monét X Change.
Porsha then revealed that she spent her entire salary on a party she threw for the women.
“Most housewives in the beginning are spending more money than they are making,” she noted.
That said, Porsha is appreciative of the platform Bravo has given her, which has allowed her to build a brand.
“I think it’s crazy from the outside looking in. I think the fact that I was building a brand and the opportunity to build it on this platform was the bigger payoff, and at that time I’m married, I was established, I didn’t need the check necessary … [but] this [was] a great way to have something for me,” she explained. “So that’s what made me continue to do it, and then once I got a divorce, I was like, I need that little check.”

Moving on to Shamea, Porsha suggested she was exaggerating how hurt she remained over their falling out. As fans will recall, the former friends’ drama came to a head amid season 17, with Shamea accusing Porsha’s mom, Diane Williams, of trying to sleep with her father, and Porsha claiming Shamea’s mom, Sarah Morton, slept with her dad’s brother.
“Nobody really realizes how long ago we stopped being friends … Last year’s reunion was almost two years ago and the show was filmed almost a year before that. It’s been three years,” she pointed out. “So I’m not sure how authentic that is. But I’m pretty sure it’s authentic on my side. Like, I’m good. Like I’m just doing my job. When I’m on set with people who I may not mesh with and people who I don’t f*ck with, it’s just, I’m on set with a co-worker. That’s all.”
According to Porsha, she feels that Shamea is clinging on to potential reconciliation for “a check.”
“This is a job. You have to have what you call storylines,” she stated. “As soon as the cameras start rolling, my real life begins, and they follow it, and that’s interesting enough. Some people, when the cameras start rolling, there may not be that much to show, so then they just kind of grab at something, and I think that this was something that you could grab on and you could talk about.”
“I just hope this is the last year of it. I really do. I want next year for each lady who’s gonna remain on the show to flourish within their own. Come on. That’s what people want to see,” she continued.
Porsha went on to reveal that she wants all of her co-stars to have fans because that means more people are watching RHOA.
“At the end of the day, I’m a businesswoman, and if we’re talking about business and the show of it all, I want each girl to be successful,” she said. “This past season, I absolutely tried to step back from anyone’s storyline. I really tried to make sure that I wasn’t the focal point of anyone’s storyline. I still ended up being that, but I tried not to because at the end of the day, the fans get worn down by the same talk.”
