Ging Freecss is a brilliant Hunter, but Hunter x Hunter has some absolute freaks of nature who make even the best look ordinary. His talent for Nen is no joke, and he can learn techniques with frightening ease. However, copying a clever move won’t help much against someone who can overpower him outright.
That’s what makes comparing Ging with the strongest characters so interesting. He’s clearly talented, but his own fights haven’t shown enough to put him above the series’ biggest threats. Some characters have already displayed feats that leave Ging with a lot to prove.
Ging Freecss is one of the smartest Hunters in Hunter x Hunter, but Beyond Netero gives him real competition. Isaac Netero’s son leads Kakin’s expedition to the Dark Continent, with Ging serving as his self-appointed second-in-command. That is quite a position for someone who usually does things his own way.
Ging has an impressive reputation, yet Beyond takes charge of a trip into a place where even the toughest Hunters could meet their end. That’s because Beyond’s experience makes him a serious threat. He has spent years preparing for the Dark Continent and led expeditions into its deadly territory.
Being a brilliant Hunter is one thing, but leading people into the world’s most dangerous territory seriously takes guts. Beyond also inherited his father’s stubbornness and love of danger, and he chases challenges that would send most people running.
Zigg Zoldyck Built a Family of Killers and Outkilled Them All
Zigg Zoldyck comes from a family where killing is literally a business, and his generation helped build that fearsome reputation. As Killua’s ancestor, he belongs to the bloodline that produced Silva and Zeno. Ging may be a brilliant Hunter, but Zigg grew up around assassins who treat killing as a skill, and not a last resort, a background that gives him a serious advantage in combat.
His trip to the Dark Continent alongside Isaac Netero makes his case even stronger, as this wasn’t an ordinary Hunter mission. The Dark Continent holds dangers that make even experienced Hunters think twice, yet Zigg ventured there with one of the strongest fighters in the series.
Zigg also brings years of assassination experience to a fight. He knows how to spot weaknesses and strike before an opponent can react. Ging might outsmart plenty of enemies, but facing someone with Zigg’s background would likely be a very different story.

Prime Netero Turns Prayer Into the Fastest Fist on Earth
Isaac Netero turned daily training into a habit that would make most fighters quit before breakfast. He threw ten thousand grateful punches a day, and eventually created the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, a Nen ability that unleashes attacks at the speed of prayer. Netero spent decades pushing his body and Nen to their limits and, in his prime, that difference could make Ging’s usual tricks useless.
Even in old age, Netero gave Meruem a fight few others could manage, with his Bodhisattva striking so quickly that the Chimera Ant King had to study his movements to find an opening. Prime Netero would have had greater physical strength and stamina, making those attacks even harder to handle. Ging’s talent is impressive, but matching the King of the Chimera Ants is a whole different problem.
As Hunter Association chairman, he had the strength to back up his authority, and never relied on his title. Netero’s speed, experience and overwhelming attack power make him the safer bet in a straight fight.
Adult Gon Burns His Future to Outshine Ging
Gon Freecss spent years trying to find Ging, but his adult transformation gave him power that makes that search almost funny. After making a desperate Nen Vow, Gon grew into a towering fighter who crushed Neferpitou without giving the Royal Guard much of a chance. Ging is a brilliant Nen user, but Adult Gon unleashed raw power that makes even his father’s known feats look tame.
Neferpitou’s reaction says a lot, as the Royal Guard sensed Gon’s aura and realized how dangerous he had become. Gon then landed a devastating Jajanken Rock that left Pitou unable to fight back.
Of course, Gon paid a terrible price for that power, sacrificing his future Nen potential in a moment of grief over Kite. Ging never needed to make such a desperate trade, but that doesn’t change what Gon achieved at his peak. For a brief moment, Gon reached a level of power his father has never demonstrated.
Don Freecss Explored the Dark Continent Centuries Before Ging
Ging Freecss has built his reputation chasing mysteries, but Don Freecss was exploring the Dark Continent centuries before him. His journey produced a book about a place that has defeated countless Hunters, and even Ging is following the trail he left behind. That means Don was so far ahead that even his descendant, one of the world’s best Hunters, is still trying to catch up.
Don’s biggest advantage is his experience with the Dark Continent, a place filled with threats that make ordinary Hunter missions look like a walk in the park. Ging has incredible Nen skills, but Don’s achievements suggest a level of experience he hasn’t come close to matching.
Meruem Makes Ging’s Hunter Resume Look Tiny
Meruem had been alive for only months, yet he made humanity’s strongest fighters look completely outmatched. The Chimera Ant King devoured Nen users, grew stronger through absorption and possessed an aura that most Hunters couldn’t hope to match.
Ging has spent years mastering Nen and exploring the world, but Meruem was practically built to win fights, so putting them in a room together would leave Ging with a very serious problem on his hands. Isaac Netero learned that the hard way as he unleashed thousands of strikes from his 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, yet Meruem kept dodging, adapting and pushing forward until he eventually found an opening.
Netero was one of humanity’s greatest fighters, and even he couldn’t defeat Meruem through sheer strength, or even so much as do more than scratch him. What makes Meruem scarier is how quickly he learns, studying opponents, spotting patterns and adjusting his strategy mid-fight.
Nanika Grants Wishes That Even Ging Cannot Copy
Ging is famous for his Nen skills, but Nanika plays by rules that make even talented Hunters look ordinary. Living inside Alluka Zoldyck, Nanika can grant wishes with effects that go far beyond anything Ging has demonstrated. The scary part is that this isn’t about landing a stronger punch or having more aura, as Nanika can do things that Nen specialists would struggle to even imagine.
After Gon’s transformation left his body in ruins, Nanika healed him and brought him back from the brink, undoing damage that no ordinary treatment could fix. Ging has never shown a Nen technique capable of achieving anything close to that, no matter how clever or skilled he might be.
