Jessel Taank opened up about her marriage to husband Pavit Randhawa during an interview last month.
Before Pavit, 46, was targeted with a rumor about his sexuality on The Real Housewives of New York City, Jessel, 46, shared the secret to their decade-long marriage, dished on Pavit’s career, and revealed why she and her family may be moving downtown from their current home in Chelsea.
“I think Pavit has always been someone that literally lets me do whatever I want, and I think that independence coexisting outside of our marriage is so important,” Jessel explained amid a September interview with Bravo Insider.
She continued, “I think a lot of married couples feel like they have to do everything together and spend weekends and go to dinners and we do that, but at the same time, I love my alone time, too, and I love to have my own personality outside of my marriage. I’m really growing myself professionally and personally as well, so that’s really important.”
After noting that her and Pavit’s separate “girls’ trips and boys’ trips” aided their individuality, Jessel revealed that Pavit, who has a background in finance, has turned his food influencer hobby into a full-blown career.
“I think he’s found a perfect balance of food and corporate strategy,” Jessel shared. “He’s started a company, and he’s actually having a dining program, so we’re really excited for him.”
Meanwhile, her and Pavit’s 5-year-old twin sons, Kai and Rio, are back in school.
“I know a lot of parents get emotional sending their kids back to school. I threw a party. I popped champagne. I had hors d’oeurvres at 10 in the morning. I was having the time of my life,” she admitted. “Three months is a long time to not be in school, so they need to buckle down, read those books, and no more iPads, no more YouTube, no more flopping around in the swimming pool or the beach and driving me nuts. They are where they need to be.”
With Kai and Rio attending school downtown, Jessel said that she and Pavit are considering relocating.
“The kids are downtown in school, so before, the school was a block away, so it was a very comfy situation,” she noted. “Now that they’re downtown, I have to take the subway, you guys. Every morning I have to drop them off to school, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m just going to shower after I drop them because the subway is hot, sweaty, and humid. I want to move downtown so I can walk to school.”
As RHONY fans saw, Erin Lichy, 39, was accused of spreading a rumor claiming Pavit was gay and hooking up with men on a recent episode of the show. And, in response, Jessel accused her of acting in a homophobic manner.
“It comes across as extremely homophobic, may I just say, because the fact that she’s saying, ‘I know something that will ruin her family,’ and it’s this, that, and the other, I’m sorry, what? Like, if he was, hypothetically, gay, it would never ruin our family,” Jessel clarified on the RHONY: After Show. “Like, we would work through those steps to make sure that, God forbid, like, he felt secure and whatever.”
She then said Erin was “f*cked up … [and] has zero morals.”
“I did tell this to her face. But I was like, ‘I bet you submitted the blind item, you idiot.’ She f*cking probably planted that sh*t herself,” Jessel concluded.
The Real Housewives of New York City season 16 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
