Dafne Keen details witnessing cocaine and drinking culture
Dafne Keen, now 21, discussed her choices during an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast. She told the host that she has “never been drunk enough to even have a hangover,” describing herself as a “control freak” about drinking. Seeing that culture as a child made her wary of trying it herself.
When Rosenbaum asked about the drinking she had witnessed, Keen revealed that she was “getting offered coke at wrap parties.” She said she turned it down, and joked that she was not getting involved at such a young age. Rosenbaum reacted with surprise at the idea of a child encountering drugs so early. “11 or 12? Man, I didn’t start that early,” he said.
Staying sober has not stopped Keen from enjoying nights out, she explained. She likes music, dancing and spending time with people, and said she can stay out until 6 a.m. without drinking or taking anything.
The actress described herself as a fun time and said she simply does not need substances to enjoy herself. As a teenager, she sometimes claimed she was already high to avoid pressure from others. In reality, she said, she would be drinking soda and pretending to be high.
Keen also spoke warmly about Hugh Jackman, her costar in Logan, in which she played Laura, also known as X-23. She described him as the “best on-screen dad” who offered encouragement and advice. Jackman, she said, made sure “that no one was abusing my hours.” Jackman also helped her enjoy the set and shielded her from tensions behind the scenes.
