Selena Gomez’s Mom Reacts to ‘Issues’ With Daughters Rumor

Selena Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, didn’t hold back when addressing a fan’s cryptic comment about her “issues” with her daughters.

Teefey, 50, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 12, to share a handful of photos of Gomez, 33, and her youngest daughter, Gracie Elliot Teefey.

“My greatest accomplishments, love me or not,” Mandy captioned the post. “They are the coolest. I [hope] one day they will see what a bad ass I am and love me back as much as I love them. I’m just mom. Who never gives up when they throw me in the trash.”

She then concluded the caption on a more optimistic note by adding, “I tell ya mom you’re doing it wrong, maybe so, we will see. But no matter what I got your back.”

While Mandy was only teasing her daughters in the caption, some fans assumed she was admitting she has issues with Gomez and Gracie, 13.

“WTF, Mandy. If you’re having issues with them, you shouldn’t post this on social media,” one person wrote in the comments section.

Soon after, Mandy made it clear that she was in a good spot with her daughters in a short but direct response. “Girl. It’s [a typical] moms not cool joke,” Teefey wrote. “Calm down. Lol.”

In addition to sharing photos of Selena and Gracie, Mandy also shared several memes in the post. One meme featured a disheveled Barbie doll climbing out of a garbage can with text onscreen that read, “Me when I have to run the business I manifested.”

Another photo featured text written over a blue sky that read, “Just to be clear, I’m that loyal friend that would take a bullet for you. But I’m also probably the reason we’re getting shot at. Balance matters.”

The matriarch has a close relationship with both of her daughters, though rumors previously circulated that she was upset she didn’t get to walk Selena down the aisle during her wedding to Benny Blanco in September 2025. Instead, Selena’s grandfather had the honor of walking her down the aisle.

“This is ludacris!” she said in response to the speculation via social media. “It was heartwarming him walk her down the aisle!”

Meanwhile, a source exclusively told Us that Mandy played an important role in her daughter’s wedding day by giving an “emotional” speech.

Mandy also reflected on the wedding in a social media post of her own. “What a perfect celebration for the most kickass couple I know! The evening couldn’t have been more beautiful and perfect! Absolutely flawless,” she wrote in a post shared on September 28, 2026. “All my love to my beautiful daughter @selenagomez and to the greatest son-in-law @itsbennyblanco!!!”
