Jason Voorhees Is Back in First Look at Peacock’s Friday the 13th Prequel Series

Mrs. Voorhees’ baby boy is introduced in a special new look at Crystal Lake. The tease comes ahead of A24’s Friday the 13th prequel show coming to Peacock in October.

On Peacock’s social media channels, a pair of character posters were just released for Crystal Lake. One image showcases child actor Callum Vinson as the young Jason Voorhees, the doomed child who’s fated to one day resurrect and carry out killing sprees while wearing a hockey mask. The second poster includes a look at Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, holding a bloody knife with a deranged look on her face. While the first poster reads “Before Jason,” the second adds, “…there was Pamela.” Check them out below.

Before Jason … There Was Pamela

In the original Friday the 13th movie, Pamela Voorhees was played by Betsy Palmer. She was revealed at the end to be the killer, admitting she was murdering anyone involved with Camp Crystal Lake in order to keep the campground closed. Many years earlier, her son with special needs, Jason Voorhees, drowned in the lake, leaving Pamela beyond devastated. She blamed the counselors for his death and made it her life’s mission to keep the campground forever closed so no other mother would lose a child the way she lost Jason on that fateful Friday the 13th.

Crystal Lake serves as a prequel story, following Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees in the aftermath of Jason’s drowning. The show takes some creative liberties by changing the time period so that the new series is set during the 1970s. It was previously established that Jason died in the late 1950s in the timeline of the original Paramount movies. It otherwise sets up the events of the original Friday the 13th, as it even includes younger versions of other familiar characters besides Pamela and Jason.

Pamela Voorhees’ Story Is Told in Crystal Lake

In the series, Nick Cordileone is set to appear as “Crazy” Ralph, the character played by Walt Gorney in Friday the 13th who warned the camp counselors they were all “doomed.” Also appearing in the show are Danielle Kotch as Claudette and Phoenix Parnevik as Barry, the two camp counselors killed in a flashback scene at the very start of Friday the 13th. A younger version of Officer Dorf, the cop played by Ron Millkie in the original, will be played by Cameron Scoggins.

Additionally, other members of the cast include William Catlett as Levon Brooks, Devin Kessler as Briana Brooks, Gwendolyn Sundstrom as Grace, Joy Suprano as Rita, and Christopher Denham as Theodore Landau. Brad Caleb Kane developed the series after a previous version in the works with Bryan Fuller wound up falling through. Kane also served as a writer on several episodes.

Crystal Lake will premiere on Oct. 15, 2026, on Peacock.
