General Hospital fans are speculating that Kristen Storms’ Maxie might return to the canvas. The last time viewers saw the Zenon Kar star on the daytime drama was in March. While her character, Maxie, was written out to Australia in July, the actress just hinted at a possible comeback.
Is Kristen Storms’ Maxie returning to General Hospital?
Kristen Storms has sparked speculation about a Port Charles return after sharing a fresh update on her Instagram Story on August 14, writing, “Back in Cali. Back to blonde.” Her hair matched the classic blonde look fans recognize. Her last update before that, on August 8, had her hair concealed by a cap. Meanwhile, just a day earlier on August 7, the 42-year-old actress had shared another selfie showing off newly dyed brown hair.
Storms had initially announced in July 2025 that she was heading to Tennessee. Her ex-husband, Brandon Barash, had also moved there recently. She also took a half-year break from her role as Maxie. To explain her time off, the show put Maxie into an extended coma after Jenz Sidwell, played by Carlo Rota, poisoned her.
“I can’t wait to return to GH, once Harper [her daughter with Barash] and I are settled in our new town,” Storms noted in her update.
By October 2025, Kristen Storms opened up on Instagram about her move, sharing that an early-2025 brain scan found a right-side brain aneurysm requiring treatment. By December 2025, the daytime star shared that she was postponing the procedure after seeing a new neurosurgeon.
Storms returned to General Hospital in the February 12 episode. However, Maxie’s appearances stopped as of March 13. The show addressed it by putting her on an extended trip with Spinelli and their daughters, Georgie and Bailey Lu.
Not long after, TMZ reported in April 2026 that her ex-husband was granted a restraining order against Storms. It pointed to issues with co-parenting their child and asked for a mental health evaluation. On July 23, GH wrote Maxie out by relocating her to Australia with her family for Spinelli’s job.
The storyline kept a future Port Charles comeback possible. That said, nothing links Kristen Storms’ return to California with General Hospital.
