Megyn Kelly is not impressed with Jennifer Lopez’s latest Wimbledon appearance. She criticized the singer’s oversized hat, calling it a break from Wimbledon etiquette. Kelly also claimed Lopez attended the event more for publicity than tennis.
Megyn Kelly says Jennifer Lopez’s hat ‘is a violation of all the protocols of Wimbledon’
Speaking on her The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly questioned Lopez’s interest in tennis and suggested the appearance was mainly for publicity. “We watch a lot of tennis, and my family plays a lot of tennis… and we were watching Wimbledon and who do we see paraded right down in the Royal Box but JLo, who doesn’t know anything about tennis.”
Kelly continued, “She is not into tennis. Trust me, I’ve been on a lot of these big tennis events. She is never there.” She then claimed Lopez attended the tournament for media attention. “She just figured out that this would be yet another vehicle for her to use for PR.”
Kelly also criticized the singer’s choice of hat. “She shows up in this enormous hat… which is a violation of all the protocols of Wimbledon and of tennis-watching in general because one wrong move and you are blocking half the people behind you from seeing the ball as it travels across the court.”
Kelly argued Lopez’s oversized hat broke Wimbledon etiquette because it could block other spectators’ views. Lopez’s former publicist Rob Shuter agreed with Kelly’s comments. He said Lopez enjoys the spotlight and claimed she was not focused on the tennis match.
Lopez attended the men’s Wimbledon final from the Royal Box this past weekend, where she was seated beside Tom Hiddleston. Her oversized straw hat drew plenty of attention. Large hats are generally discouraged in the Royal Box.
Photos later showed Lopez without the hat during the match. Despite the attention around her look, Kelly was not impressed with Lopez.
