Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen is both one of the most popular, and one of the most powerful, anime characters ever. A once-in-a-generation prodigy whose entire being is defined by his being “the strongest,” the only character in his home series who can match him is Sukuna, and there are very few anime characters who aren’t deities or higher beings capable of standing in his way.
With his unmatched arsenal of Cursed Techniques and nearly unbeatable Domain Expansion, Gojo can defeat some of the strongest anime heroes and villains in history. His raw physical prowess, while formidable, isn’t anything compared to the heroes and villains of other shonen battle anime, but almost no one can withstand the power of Unlimited Void and his Six Eyes.
Black Frieza Has All the Power But None of the Hax Needed to Combat Gojo
In terms of pure physical strength, there are practically no non-god anime characters capable of defeating Black Frieza from Dragon Ball Super. As of right now, the main villain of the franchise is also the strongest mortal in existence, his power far beyond the level of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo, and only eclipsed by the most elite Gods of Destruction and those above them.
However, while Frieza in his latest form may very well be capable of destroying entire universes, he, like most Dragon Ball characters, has nothing but physical stats going for him. Frieza has no means of bypassing Limitless, a passive ability that prevents attacks from reaching Gojo, and Gojo, being much smarter than Frieza, could easily arrange the needed conditions to destroy the intergalactic tyrant with Unlimited Void, a Domain Expansion that floods its target’s minds with a destructive overload of information.
Makima is Gojo’s Greatest Anime Rival
For years, fans have loved the idea of pitting Gojo against the biggest icon from JJK’s sister series Chainsaw Man, Makima. This is because, for the longest time, both stood at or near the top of their respective dark shonen universes, both have largely unconventional powers that are extremely difficult for most to counter, both are geniuses, and both are beloved as two of the most charismatic faces in modern anime.
Ultimately, there are great arguments to be made for both sides in a clash between Gojo and Makima and, if the Strongest Sorcerer fought the Control Devil 10 times, they would both likely achieve a number of victories. As one of the Four Horsemen, Makima wields immense destructive power, near-limitless regenerative abilities, and the power to control all she sees as beneath her.
Victory for Makima could be as easy as forcing Gojo to surrender and, due to the nature of her contract with Japan’s Prime Minister, any time Gojo killed her, he could wind up dying as a tradeoff of her coming right back. At the same time, the JJK hero clearly has more overall firepower at his disposal and, while Makima’s ego is gargantuan, it’s difficult for anyone to not see the greatness of Satoru Gojo.
Enrico Pucci is the Strongest Jojo Character Gojo Could Hope to Defeat
Satoru Gojo could handily defeat just about every Stand user in the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime, with only Giorno Giovanna and his Gold Experience Requiem capable of stopping him. That leaves the big bad of Part 6, Stone Ocean, Enrico Pucci, as the most powerful Stand User Gojo could overcome.
With his final Stand, Made in Heaven, Pucci can accelerate time using gravitational forces, affecting everything but living things. During his final battle against Jolyne Joestar and her friends, Pucci successfully kills nearly the entirety of the main cast, including former protagonist Jotaro Joestar, and initiates infinite time acceleration, resetting the universe in the process.
At full power, Pucci would certainly destroy Gojo, but Made in Heaven can’t immediately jump to infinite time acceleration, needing to build up to it. Without that, Pucci has no means of bypassing Infinity with his more direct attacks, and Gojo would have at least a small amount of time to figure out a plan to defeat Pucci before the corrupt chaplain surpassed him in speed.
Nerona Imu Being the Most Powerful One Piece Character Won’t Save Him Against Gojo
While One Piece anime fans are still waiting to see Nerona Imu in action, manga readers have just seen him firmly establish himself as, by far, the strongest character in the series. In back-to-back fights, the king of the world just completely destroyed two of the most powerful heroes in the manga, Prince Loki and series protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.
However, while the scale of power in One Piece has increased massively in recent arcs, its top-tier characters still aren’t the most impressive. Imu likely couldn’t even destroy a country on his own without the Mother Flame, and his other abilities, like immortality and the ability to turn others into demons, come with strict rules behind them. Gojo may have failed to save his version of Japan from Sukuna, but he’d easily be able to pick up Luffy’s slack in Elbaph, with Infinity acting as his ultimate shield, and the Six Eyes being formidable weapons against a relatively weak opponent.
Naruto Uzumaki Should Destroy Gojo, But Has No Means to Bypass Infinity
Naruto Uzumaki, at various points throughout the three anime he’s starred in, not only stands above most other shonen heroes in physical ability, but comes equipped with the versatility needed to overcome more unconventional threats. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations saw him become a completely unstoppable physical nightmare when he used the one-time-only power-up of Baryon Mode but, even prior to that, fans had seen him utilize sound genjutsu, truth seeker orbs, mental and dimensional manipulation resistances, and one of the most overpowered self-multiplication abilities in fiction.
And yet, despite all of that, just like nearly all non-divine anime characters, without his own universe’s power system being made equivalent to Cursed Energy, he has no means of getting around Infinity. Naruto could throw everything he had at Gojo but, even if it took a long time, he would eventually run out of Chakra, and Gojo would be given the opportunity to finish the Hokage off quickly.
