Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is getting a brand-new release day, after Spider-Man is caught in a jam (literally).
Per an official notice from Marvel Comics to comic book store retailers, Popverse reports that “Marvel has just sent a notice to comic book store retailers alerting them that the vaunted Amazing Spider-Man #1000 will not be going on sale August 16, but has been delayed at least two weeks, with the new presumed release date being September 30. This would be all 32 versions of the issue, meaning the two main covers and the 30 variants (well, 30 at last count). Marvel primarily uses three printing houses for its comic books, but has not disclosed which printer is having the issue.”
The entertainment website added that this print delay will directly impact the rollout of Amazing Spider-Man #1000 on all digital formats so that Marvel Comics can parallel how the comic is released as a whole. Bleeding Cool reported that Spider-Man editor Nick Lowe confirmed that only 400,000 copies of Amazing Spider-Man #1000 had been pre-ordered. They, too, have suggested that the new release date for Amazing Spider-Man #1000 will now be closer to September 30th. Stacked at 104 pages, Amazing Spider-Man #1000 will feature Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz’s standout story, “Ravage.”
Bleeding Cool notes that “Ravage” will double as a major turning point for Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man #1000, writing that “It serves as both a culmination of their run so far and a major turning point that launches the next phase. Spider-Man confronts his greatest fear and a new villain described as one of his most frightening in decades: Ravage. This personal battle is said to force Peter Parker to question his legacy and will shape the series going forward. It has been suggested that this is the past version of the future Marvel 20909 character Ravage, co-created by Stan Lee. The comic will also have a cover featuring previously unpublished Spider-Man art by Steve Ditko.”
What Else To Know About Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Before It Releases This Fall
Even if Marvel Comics must delay Amazing Spider-Man #1000, the publishing giant is still endlessly thrilled about the long-running series reaching such an impossible-feeling issue number. “The giant-size spectacular continues with special anniversary stories by an unprecedented lineup of renowned creators from legendary Spider-Man creators and modern superstars to surprise contributors! The talent includes the likes of John Romita Jr., Frank Miller, Peach Momoko, Stuart Immonen, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Patrick Gleason, Marcos Martin and, making his Marvel Comics debut, screenwriter Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth)!” Marvel Comics shared with fervent enthusiasm.
CBR provided restless readers with a first look at Amazing Spider-Man #1000, with Sean O’Connell declaring Summer 2026 as The Summer of Spider-Man. “What an incredible honor to be part of this jam-packed and absolutely gorgeous anniversary celebration of this character that means so much to all of us. Re-teaming with Stuart Immonen, one of the very best to have ever done it, is a dream come true. I am so honored to have made somany Marvel comics with him over the years, and I used this grand opportunity to try to give him something that hits on all of his many strengths. He took it and made something exquisite,” Brian Michael Bendis told CBR when reflecting on the magnitude of Amazing Spider-Man #1000.
Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is now expected to release around Sept. 30.
