Leavitt shared a lengthy statement confirming she would leave her role at the end of the month. The post included two photos of her with President Donald Trump. One photo appeared digitally altered when compared with a Getty Images photograph taken by Anna Moneymaker on July 15, 2025.
The comparison showed differences in Karoline Leavitt’s hair, face, chest, and waist. Her hair looked fuller, cheekbones higher, chin narrower, waist slimmer, and chest enlarged. As of now, neither she nor the administration has addressed the apparent discrepancy.
The announcement itself struck a personal tone. Leavitt, who welcomed her second child in May, wrote that balancing motherhood with “one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life.”
She added, “I will always remain a vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party.” She is married to 60-year-old real estate developer Nicolas Riccio. They have two children, Niko, born in 2024, and Viviana, born in May.
Donald Trump announced her departure shortly before on Truth Social, saying she would leave “so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family.” He called her “one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office” and said she would remain a top outside advisor.
Leavitt, the youngest-ever White House press secretary, joins a list of women departing Trump’s circle. Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, former Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and former DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard have all left.
