Darryl M. Bell and Kadeem Hardison are ready to dish on every behind-the-scenes detail of the hit sitcom, A Different World, with a new podcast.
As reported by Variety, the two co-stars are scheduled to premiere their new weekly podcast through iHeartMedia and Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network. The podcast, titled “A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem,” is set to premiere next week on Oct. 15, with a new episode scheduled every Thursday.
The official logline for the podcast details that the two actor will bring their “nearly 40-year friendship and signature chemistry” to a conversation ranging across a series of topics. Bell and Hardison will tackle everything from entertainment and pop culture to sports.
For die-hard fans of the sitcom, the two co-stars will “rewatch ‘A Different World’ episode by episode, sharing behind-the-scenes stories, unpacking why the groundbreaking series continues to resonate nearly four decades later and welcoming familiar faces from the show along the way.”
Both stars are “beyond excited” to get behind the mic to talk about the sitcom. Bell revealed in a statement that he’s been wanting to do this project for the past 25 years, with Hardison adding, “I’ve been talking to this guy for 40 years. I’m so glad you all get to see what I’ve been dealing with.”
The first podcast episode’s honored guest will be none other than the sitcom’s executive producer and director, Debbie Allen. She is also part of the revival series on Netflix, with the former co-stars and Allen rewatching her first episode for the sitcom, Season 2, Episode 2.
The 19874 Cosby Show spin-off got a new modern twist with a revival series that aired on Netflix on Sept. 24. It just so happened that the sequel aired the same day A Different World did 39 years ago. Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison reprise their roles in the new series alongside many other returning actors.
The revival focuses on Dwayne Wayne (Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert’s (Guy) grown-up daughter heading off to college. The very same college her parents went to and where the original sitcom takes place: Hillman College. Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon) finds herself struggling to get out of her parents’ shadow, but is determined to create her own legacy.
