“Love Island USA” showed Alannah Keyser the door following the resurfacing of her racist posts. After videos resurfaced online of her lip-syncing to the n-word in a song, Peacock has confirmed that they have fired Keyser from the show. Notably, this is the second time this season a contestant has been fired for using the n-word.
Alannah Keyser removed from Love Island USA after racist post resurfaces
Alannah Keyser is reportedly booted from “Love Island USA” after a racist post where she used the N-word made rounds on social media. As per Variety, the internet has shared receipts of Keyser using the N-word in a social media post as well. Notably, the videos were initially posted to private accounts and weren’t shared publicly.
It was only after Keyser appeared on the show that the video gained traction online. She faced immense backlash, which prompted the makers to take swift action. The 21-year-old USC student appeared in the first 20 minutes of Thursday’s episode. She shared some moments with partner Zach Georgiou before her exit from the show.
Narrator Iain Stirling announced her departure, saying, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.” Keyser’s exit follows that of Vasana Montgomery, who was fired from the show before Season 8 even premiered.
It seems like it has been a concerning trend on the “Love Island USA” franchise for quite some time now. During Season 7 last year, Yulissa Escobar was removed from the show for using the n-word. Moreover, in the later part of the season, Cierra Ortega was fired for using a racial slur against Asians. Notably, Ortega revealed she had “no idea” that it was a slur.
The internet welcomed this decision wholeheartedly. One fan commented: “BYE HENNI YOU WON’T BE MISSED.” A second fan wrote: “Every season somebody forgets that reality TV producers aren’t the only ones doing background checks. The internet got a whole investigation unit on standby.”
A third fan penned: “lmao I don’t even watch this show but just glad they’re not giving a racist b**ch a platform!!!” A fourth fan chimed in: “We’re not gonna miss or talk about her anyway so it’s better that she is out now. I still think she should address it tho.”
