However, the drama has now taken a new twist, as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes Sheeran himself is only part for the rapper’s problems.

According to TMZ’s coverage, the congresswoman recently spoke with Charlie, during which Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez talked about Ed Sheeran’s concert. She went on to say that Robert Kraft and the stadium owners are the bigger issue behind Macklemore’s fallout.
While saying this, “We need to be very clear about how dangerous a precedent this is.” AOC also added that she would change the channel whenever Ed Sheeran comes on the radio. She went on to criticize the stadium owners on Sheeran’s tour for censoring discussion of the “genocide in Gaza.
“It’s not just what has happened with the act and not just in removing Macklemore from the lineup, but when you see what Robert Kraft did to line up all of the stadiums to censor speech in that one specific way, it’s become clear that this is not just about one music artist or two music artists.” She said it before pointing out dangerous precedent.
Ed Sheeran’s tour will resume on Friday, September 19, 2026, without Macklemore as part of the lineup. For context, the singer has faced plenty of backlash over the situation, although the 35-year-old recently addressed the controversy. Despite his explanation, it has not had much impact on his critics. For context, while discussing Sheeran’s role in the situation, the rapper recently said that the songwriter is in a “f–ked up position.”
