Days of Our Lives brings drama as the time is ticking down for Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo)’s newest mystery offspring to hit Salem. And we suspect that Dominic Marino could be the next big bad on Days of Our Lives, a truly wicked villain who steps in to take over his family and all of Salem to fulfill Stefano’s dark legacy.
Days of Our Lives: The Chess Set Mystery
So, the first time we heard this guy’s name was in conjunction with the purchase of the Kiriakis mansion, when Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) name-dropped him. Dominic was also behind the chess set mystery that Belle Black (Martha Madison) and Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) have been investigating. So, it looks like Stefano wanted Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) to find out he had a child with Marlena.
We know that Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) has been helping Dominic for a few months now. The DiMera henchwoman is the one who’s been dropping those clues, and those led Chad and Belle to Italy, with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) tagging along for the ride. The trio made it all the way to Dominic’s palazzo, but the mysterious man was nowhere to be found, but was watching from nearby. So, Belle and Chad were there investigating the chess set.
EJ’s Mission on DOOL
But EJ wanted to find out who Dominic was, because he snaked the Kiriakis mansion and bought it from Xander before EJ could get it. And then he noticed that Stefano’s favorite booze and cigars were there. He pointed out Dad’s favorites to Chad. And then Belle and the guys saw a matching chess set like the one given to Marlena. And sure enough, hidden inside the secret compartment was a picture of a cute young blonde boy in Stefano’s arms with the year 1992 written on the back. That was enough for Belle, Chad, and EJ to be more confused than ever and wonder if that was Dominic in the photo.
Days of Our Lives: Dominic’s Birth Certificate Shocker
Hints have been dropped for a while about a big Stefano and Marlena secret, but it wasn’t until Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) had Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) tasked with finding Dominic’s birth certificate that we learned the alleged truth. Dominic Marino DiMera is the long-lost son of Stefano and Marlena, unless something is falsified.
Obviously, Stefano knew about their son all along, but his queen of the night, Marlena, has no recollection of being pregnant. She remains confused about whether she really had Stefano’s son, and Rita wouldn’t give Marlena the answers she asked for. This week, Belle finally heard the birth certificate shocker from Mama Marlena. Plus, Steve knows, since Black Patch is doing more investigating. We also had EJ interrogate Rita about what he overheard her and Marlena talking about regarding Dominic.
And EJ demanded to know if Dominic’s his brother, but Rita has not confirmed anything to either Marlena or EJ. And Marlena knows the only way to know for certain if Dominic is her son is to get a DNA test. But in Salem, can a DNA test ever be trusted?
Days: Dante Vitali Arrives in Salem
So, we know the time is ticking down, and Dominic is going to show up in Salem sooner rather than later to take his rightful place in the DiMera family, probably at the head of it. I expect we’re going to meet him during sweeps, which kicks off October 29th and runs for four weeks. Nobody in the family fold knew Dominic. He grew up in Italy, not in Salem.
It cannot be a coincidence that Marlena’s daughter, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), is now engaged to Dominic’s boarding school best friend, Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti), and he just surprised Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) this week. Dante showed up unannounced, and he was eager to meet EJ. But Dante then took off to take care of some business. Before he left, he told Sydney that Dominic would be coming to Salem soon, but wasn’t sure when. Dante did say that even though he and Dominic don’t keep in close contact, he’s coming soon, and they remain friends.
Dante told Sydney how great Dominic is. He considers him a best friend. But we know Dante is lying about part of that, because Dominic and Dante worked together to make sure the game was rigged. So, Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) couldn’t win the poker game, because Dante was under orders from Dominic to make sure Philip couldn’t win enough to stop the sale of Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston)’s mansion.
Days of Our Lives: The Battle for the Kiriakis Mansion
I suspect Dante is in Salem to oversee the transfer of the Kiriakis home to Dominic’s possession. We’ll see if the plot Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Susanne Rogers) cooked up with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) works. They went with Xander and Philip, plus Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) to wreck the mansion. They are hoping that’ll stop the sale from closing on the home.
But Dominic may still want the house and may tell Dante, “Hire a construction crew to gut and clean the place.” It’s terrible to think about, but the Kiriakis house may fall into the hands of Stefano 2.0. But if Dominic can’t get the Kiriakis home, he may just take over the DiMera estate and push EJ right out of it. I’m guessing that Dominic wants the Kiriakis house to fulfill Stefano’s legacy of hate against Victor. And Dominic getting the house means he did something that EJ never could do on Days of our Lives.
EJ on Shaky Ground on DOOL
Plus, EJ’s on shaky ground because of Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman)’s Coriseal confession. And we know Rita called in the tip on the handbag counterfeiting that got Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) arrested. So, he’s loose now, but we now have confirmation that Rita and EJ are behind the fake Gabi Chic goods. And honestly, Rita may be setting EJ up.
Dominic may be a true villain like Salem hasn’t had since Clyde Weston (James Read) was shot and put into a coma. A bad guy who refuses to play nice, even with his own family. Dominic may not care if people hate him. He may want them scared of him, and he may not care to be redeemed. He may be just like his dad, Stefano, an unapologetically wicked man.
Days of Our Lives: Dominic’s Mommy Issues
And of course, this will devastate Marlena to no end, especially without John by her side to face this atrocity. Marlena would never have agreed to have a child with Stefano. I expect Dominic to have major mommy issues because he was raised as a secret from Marlena. There is no telling what Stefano told Dominic about Marlena. So Dominic may come to town hating Belle, Sami, and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) because they had Marlena in their lives growing up.
And Dominic may feel like it’s his time now that Stefano is confirmed dead. It already appears also like Dominic’s taking everything EJ wants. He’s got the Kiriakis mansion, and Dominic may also want Titan. So EJ is circling the drain, and Dominic’s having Rita do his dirty work. That’s been going on for months, with Stefano and Victor both dead and gone. Honestly, it’s high time Salem got another truly despicable and ruthless villain.
Days of Our Lives: Stefano 2.0 Divides the DiMeras
And it’ll be interesting to see how the DiMeras divide among themselves, because EJ is not a family favorite, and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) may side with Dominic over EJ. And I wonder if Belle, Sami, and Eric will accept Dominic as their brother. Even Marlena is having a hard time accepting this could be true. And we know family loyalty was huge for Stefano, and it definitely is a thing in Marlena’s tribe as well.
Dominic’s introduction is not benign. He’s not pretending to be a good guy. He’s got Marlena, Belle, and Chad on a wild goose chase. Dominic is snatching Maggie’s home, and his best friend just so happens to be engaged to Sami. None of these are good signs. Plus, Rita took the Phoenix ring Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) gave to EJ and shipped it off to Dominic. It’s on his hand now. And once EJ sees it on Dominic’s hand, he is going to be furious. Dominic may be the true Stefano 2.0 and villainous in ways that EJ never even imagined.
