John Hook informed viewers that he has decided to retire from KSAZ-TV. He began his career with the television station in 1993. Before that, he served as a reporter for KVOA-TV in Tucson for eight years. Recently, he revealed that following his shocking career decision, he plans to make more room for traveling and pursuing activities that interest him.
Fox 10’s John Hook announces retirement
Fox 10’s Hook announced his retirement after serving a tenure of 33 years with KSAZ-TV. His last broadcast is scheduled for September 14. He said, “This community has been so good to me. Really from the moment I arrived at Channel 10. CBS back then in ‘93. I think viewers know if the person on TV has a connection to the community and is an Arizona guy. From my time at ASU, which brought me here, to working in radio in Phoenix, this is home. I think of viewers as extended family.” He reflected on how the viewers have always displayed love and support to him whenever he ran into them. He also revealed that he loves to interact with his fans.
He then moved on to speaking about his co-workers, revealing that he’ll miss them the most. “From my co-anchors to everyone who puts the newscasts on the air. It’s just a great group of people. And we have so many laughs during the day. Much of which I can’t repeat,” he added. He then referenced a quote from pro athletes, which they often say during departures: “I miss the guys in the locker room.” He expressed that, for him, it’s tough to leave behind the wonderful colleagues he has met and start a new chapter in life.
Hook also mentioned what’s next after leaving Fox 10. He said that he’s looking forward to spending quality time with his wife and his three children while exploring places and activities that interest him. “I want to travel and experience some parts of the world I haven’t seen. I want to dive the Great Barrier Reef… surf more… ski more… play a little more golf… play more music… volunteer, and I want to mentor,” he elaborated.
