General Hospital has Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)’s world falling apart because Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) framed him for having Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) beaten nearly to death in Pentonville prison.
General Hospital: Sonny the Town Pariah
Almost nobody in Sonny’s life believes he is innocent, even though he swears that he didn’t do it. So many people are turning on Sonny, and they want him to pay because Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) was collateral damage. Let’s talk about the epic fallout coming that will change Sonny’s life for the worse.
So, we’ve got things looking absolutely terrible for the former mob man. We have seen that Drew and Ava framed Sonny quite thoroughly for having Sidwell beaten in prison. However, they never intended for Curtis to get caught in the crossfire. But it’s kind of a happy accident for Ava and Drew, because now not only do Sonny’s loved ones think he lied about getting out of the mob business and going legit, but Curtis’s loved ones are furious with Sonny, and they want him to pay.

So things are rapidly falling apart for the ex-mobster, because right now Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) wants nothing to do with his dad. And even Giovanni Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) thinks Sonny’s guilty, and he’s moving in with Emma Scorpio Drake (Braedyn Bruner) to get away from Sonny. And ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) has dumped Sonny.
Plus, there’s a line of people now determined to see Sonny go down. So, today we’re going to talk about some of the life-altering fallout that Sonny faces from Ava and Drew’s frame job.
General Hospital: Josslyn’s Vendetta Against Sonny
Let’s get to it. First off, we know Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is going after Sonny hard. Now, we already know he’s one of the major reasons that Josslyn joined the WSB. Of course, she wanted justice for Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and to avenge his murder, but she also wanted to stop Sonny and people like him.
Joss hates that Sonny’s been part of organized crime for so long. And Joss hates all the heartache and devastation that Sonny has caused her family over these many years. She blames him for damage done to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), for Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig)’s death, and just a whole lot of other bad deeds that have devastated their family.
Joss Takes a Different Approach on GH
So, Joss has never stopped wanting to take Sonny down, but it kind of slid to the back burner. But now Joss is determined to devote her life to stopping Sonny and making him pay for his crime. And Josslyn plans to start by using JJ to bankrupt Sonny. She wanted the WSB to assign her to Sonny’s case, but Agent William Baines (Alimi Ballard) refused. He shut Joss down. So now she is going to use JJ instead. And she just told Hudson Parker her plan.
So Joss is going after Sonny professionally. But don’t forget, Josslyn is also quite lethal. She shot and killed Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) in revenge for Dex. She has shot and killed bad guys for the WSB, including Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). So, we know that Joss is capable of murder, and I’m kind of wondering if she might end up shooting Sonny. That would be a full circle kind of thing. If you remember, back in the day, Carly shot her stepdad, Tony Jones (Brad Maule). So, if Josslyn shoots Sonny, her ex-stepdad, there would be fallout.
General Hospital: Joss & Carly’s Relationship at Risk
Obviously, Carly would be horrified if Joss shot Sonny, mostly because he’s Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears)’s father. And I do think Carly would be very upset with her daughter about that. It would alter Joss’s relationship with her mom forever. Already Carly’s worried that the WSB is going to ruin Joss’s life, and this would just reinforce that.
Sonny Loses Justine on GH
A second bit of fallout is about his love life. We know already that Sonny has officially lost Justine, and we saw Sonny swear to Justine that he’s been set up. He didn’t go after Sidwell, but Justine doesn’t believe him. It doesn’t help that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) is on fire about Curtis’s assault. Jordan threatened to end their friendship if Justine didn’t dump Sonny. So, for a lot of reasons, Justine told Sonny it is over.
Plus, I’m sure Justine’s going to try to prove Sonny’s guilty and go after him with criminal charges. So, at least for now, Justine has turned on Sonny and dumped him. And we all know how much he likes to hold a grudge. Even if Justine circles back after Sonny is exonerated, I don’t know if he would take her back. I think Justine would be devastated. She’d regret not believing Sonny. Lots of fallout there.
General Hospital: Sonny and Dante’s Fracture
Some other fallout coming could be the fracture of Sonny’s other relationships. For instance, Dante and Sonny seem to be at the point of no return. Dante won’t even hear Sonny’s denials that he wasn’t involved. So, he’s really ticked off at Dante. And I don’t blame him. He didn’t even give Sonny the benefit of the doubt for a moment. Right out of the gate, Dante was convinced that Sonny was lying, that he never left the mob, and that he has been lying to his family. So, Dante was just real quick to write his dad off.
That hurt Sonny, and then he snapped and told Dante he did not want a son like him. Of course, Sonny didn’t mean it. But he just can’t believe Dante is thoroughly convinced that he’s guilty on General Hospital. So, this could wreck Sonny and Dante’s whole entire relationship. And when the truth comes out that Sonny’s innocent, things may still never be the same between him and Dante.
Sonny’s War with Ava on GH
Another big aftereffect from this is, I’m sure that Sonny will eventually find out Ava was behind all of this, the frame job, all of it. She and Drew set Sonny up, but it was actually Ava’s idea to start with. And then, you know, Sonny is going to go after Ava and try to cut her off so she doesn’t have any custody or any visitation of Avery Corinthos (Ava & Grace Scarola) again. Sonny has never stopped hating Ava. And things will get much worse when this comes out.
I expect a huge custody battle between Sonny and Ava. And I don’t think Sonny is going to stop until Ava is out of Avery’s life for good. Of course, Ava is not going to go down without a fight, because she fiercely loves her daughter more than anything. So, that’s going to be a big, epic battle ahead for Sonny and Ava once the ugly truth comes out. And I would expect that both Sonny and Ava go to extremes, and a lot of people will take sides, and it’s going to be really soapy and messy.
General Hospital: Sonny’s Business and Future at Risk
And one last thing we could see is that Sonny may face challenges to his business because of this whole incident. Now, we know that Josslyn plans to go after him, but she’s not the only one. Right now, Sonny’s been planning for the auction of Sidwell’s assets, but it is a police auction.
So, if Sonny is facing criminal charges for the attack on Sidwell and Curtis, he may be banned from bidding in the auction. If so, then Sonny might not be able to get his piers back. And of course, we know that Drew wants to buy them. And if Sonny is blocked from the auction. Then Drew might snap up the piers with no competition.
Then we could see Sonny going after Drew. And if Sonny plays dirty, that’s basically him back to his old mob ways. If everybody thinks Sonny’s lying about going legit anyway, he might figure, why not just go back to mob life?
But there are a few people still in Sonny’s corner, like Carly, like Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and his brother Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst). So, the bottom line is this frame job that Drew and Ava have done was pretty solid work, and it may stick for a while. And I think there’s big aftershocks coming for Sonny.
