After delivering solid action movies such as Wrath of Man, The Covenant, and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Guy Ritchie’s latest achievement comes on the small screen. The director of classics like Snatch had previously tried to venture into television with the 2000 spin-off Lock, Stock… (based on his 1998 film debut), but it has remained a cult series among Ritchie’s loyal fans. However, in 2024, the highly original storyteller teamed up with Netflix to try again with a spin-off, and now the crime thriller stands among the streamer’s most-watched shows.
‘The Gentlemen’ Officially Takes Over Streaming
The Gentlemen Season 1 arrived on Netflix in March 2024, introducing viewers to an expansion of the universe presented by Ritchie in the 2019 feature film of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey. The first season was met with positive critical reception, with many highlighting Ritchie’s ability to stand apart from the movie and deliver a solid standalone series. Season 1 was even nominated for a Golden Globe, and unsurprisingly, Season 2 didn’t take long to be greenlit.
After the Season 2 premiere on September 3, the series has taken over Netflix’s charts and become one of the most popular shows on streaming. According to the latest update to the rankings, The Gentlemen held the No. 1 spot on the charts for the period between September 7 and September 13, and garnered 9.9 million views. Not only that, but Season 1 was also among Netflix’s most-watched shows in that period, amassing 5.5 million views.

Will There Be a Season 3 of ‘The Gentlemen’?
The Gentlemen Season 2 premiered to good reviews, eventually earning 84% on the critics’ score and 86% on the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (Season 1 earned 75% from critics and 84% from audiences). Season 2 follows Eddie Horniman (Theo James) and Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) as they expand their already full-blown empire and face new threats from colorful characters. The ensemble cast sees the return of Ray Winstone, Daniel Ings, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, and Giancarlo Esposito. Newcomers include Benedetta Porcaroli, Amra Mallassi, Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Tyler Conti, and Chris Eubank Jr.
Right before the premiere of Season 2, Netflix had already approved the production of Season 3. Commenting on the renewal, Ritchie said, “A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.” No release date has been confirmed for The Gentlemen Season 3, although filming might begin in early 2027.
