Heather Dubrow warned her Real Housewives of Orange County castmates against throwing stones as she accused them of picking on her at last week’s premiere party for the series’ milestone 20th season.
As she also reacted to Gina Kirschenheiter, 42, describing her as “scrappier” on the new episodes, explained her feud with Vicki Gunvalson, 64, and weighed in on the addition of Carmella Garcia, 44, Heather addressed her relationship with her mom, Carole Kent, and named the “best fight” of the Bravo reality series.
“I think you see in the first episode that there’s conversations that erupt after a dinner we had after the reunion. And I don’t want to give anything away, but I think people should be careful about throwing stones. None of us are perfect and we all do and say things not always exactly right,” Heather, 57, told Entertainment Tonight.
Then, after Gina’s “scrappier” comment was mentioned, Heather compared season 20 to season 17.
“Do you remember a few seasons ago where people decided that they just wanted to pick on me?” she asked. “There is a bit of that … And when people start picking on how you talk and how you walk and how you carry yourself … and all those things, you start to go, ‘Do you just not like me? Are we back there?’”
“But I feel like because I’m in a different place in my life now, my response was different,” she added.
As for her drama with Vicki, it stemmed from a comment Vicki made in which she suggested that Heather and her husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow, 67, had inherited their wealth.
“Vicki is a very smart, self-made woman and has worked very hard for everything she has. She, of all people, should understand that when you work hard, and you have a life, and you created it yourself, to say that someone handed it to you — look, if someone wants to hand us money, that is a great plan. But both of our mothers are alive. I’m not really sure who we would’ve inherited money from,” she reasoned.
Heather then said, “Why say it, I guess, is my question. Why would someone say something like that? It’s either because it makes you feel better that we aren’t smarter or cleverer than you.”
Regarding the addition of Carmella, Heather said she “did really well.”
“I really thought that she really stood on her own two feet, and I think she was strong,” she revealed.
Moving on to her mother, Heather said Carole should “probably” have an orange after all that she filmed for season 20.
“It’s funny. I watched the first episode and I saw our dynamic. That’s our dynamic and I think people are gonna resonate,” she shared. “Mother-daughter relationships are complicated. I love my mother. She’s fabulous. She also irritates me. She’s my mother, and we’re very similar in a lot of ways, and we’re also really different, and we parent very differently. I have more kids than she raised and we’re of a different generation.”
Also during the interview, Heather said her drama with Sarah Winchester, who broke the sugar bow off a cake at one of her parties before it was cut, led to the “best fight” of the show.
“That is one of the best fights in Orange County history just because it involved all of us, it was petty, [and] it was hilarious … and we meant it,” she recalled.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 20 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
