After being offline for nearly three months, major anime streaming site HiAnime has announced it will officially shut down for good.
HiAnime became the latest streaming site to suddenly go dark in March, following the recent massive push by copyright holders and government officials worldwide to crack down on illegal anime and manga hosting websites.
Although the front page of HiAnime announced its closure, the website’s Discord team assured loyal viewers that the streamer would return and urged them not to believe any unverified news until then.
80 days later, the HiAnime Discord team is singing a completely different tune. “We have now concluded that the website shall not be returning and has ceased operations permanently,” the latest Discord message reads.
Below is the full message issued by the official HiAnime Discord team regarding its decision to permanently shut down:
“As you are aware, it has been approximately 80 days since the website affiliated with the community was shut down due to certain reasons. During this period, the staff team and the administration board have consistently attempted to contact the website team via all allocated contact channels, in light of a possible rebranding.”
“As such, we have now concluded that the website shall not be returning and has ceased operations permanently.”
Although HiAnime is shutting down for good, the remaining members will pivot the fanbase toward a general anime community with a more user-focused environment and greater freedom.
