Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are keeping their return to the UK a secret, which has made them the center of “absurd” backlash. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly touched down at Birmingham Airport on August 26. However, their communication team has refused to confirm their return so far.
Tom Sykes slams Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for UK return secrecy
Last month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines due to the sudden news that they were returning to the UK after years. While the couple and their team have not confirmed they are back in Britain, many media reports noted that a video showed a convoy of black SUVs leaving Birmingham Airport to take the Sussexes to their new house in the Cotswolds.
The Royalist podcast host Tom Sykes called out this secrecy as “absurd” (via RadarOnline.com). He said, “Their office is refusing to confirm that they are in England. This is the level of Kafkaesque absurdity going on with this couple and their relationship with the media. This is how toxic, poisonous, and damaged their relationship with the British media is.”
He continued, “So, they have arrived, and on the first day back in the United Kingdom, they are refusing to confirm that they are in the United Kingdom. I mean, it’s absolutely absurd.” The royal expert explained that the duo’s refusal to confirm the news of their return was part of their attempt at staying private.
Sykes said, “The reason that they’re doing this is that it would undermine their own arguments about wanting privacy. What I think they’re also being told on background is that, you know, they want to keep their powder dry if they need to sue somebody.”
He concluded, “If this is how they intend to approach living in this country, it’s going to end really, really, really badly.” The British royal family has also not commented publicly on the Sussexes’ return.
