On The Real Housewives of Orange County, Michael Wolfsmith confirmed that he hadn’t seen his sister, Briana Culberson, in eight years. And on Instagram, he went into detail about why.
After sharing a sneak peek at a discussion he and his mom, Vicki Gunvalson, 64, had about family on the July 30 episode, Michael, 41, was met with comments from shocked fans, who wanted to know more about why they hadn’t spent time together in so long.
“Are we gonna have children? Should we freeze your sperm? As you get older, the sperm goes away,” Vicki was seen telling Michael in the preview clip.
Meanwhile, Michael gushed over his new life in Spain, saying, “I like it. Everything’s open late. You can eat til 2 in the morning. Clubs are open late.”
In a confessional, Vicki confirmed that while Michael was no longer living in the States, he was still working for her at Coto Insurance.
“Michael has become a world traveler and works for Coto Insurance remotely. He runs my life insurance division,” she shared. “My relationship with Michael actually has gotten better. I think he appreciates me more now, knowing all that I’ve done through Michael and Briana’s life to get them to the place they’re at.”
Looking back at his time in Orange County, Michael described his younger years as “boring,” saying the area was better “for families.”
“I don’t know. I kind of like my selfish life,” he stated.
At that point, after Vicki noted that she couldn’t “imagine [her] life” without Michael and Briana, 39, Michael revealed he and Briana hadn’t seen one another in many years.
“I haven’t seen Briana since, like, eight years. I may have met two of her [four] kids,” he explained.
Back in her confessional, Vicki admitted it “absolutely [sucked] that [her] kids live far away.”
“Mike’s in Spain. Briana lives in Oklahoma. They talk all the time. They FaceTime. But it’s definitely better to be in person,” she said. “I see some other families have their kids over for Sunday dinner, and I don’t have that, and it’s not what I’d ever planned, but it’s their life. I have to sit back and have a cigarette, and I don’t even smoke.”
After the preview was shared, Michael responded to a couple of fans in the comments section of his post.
“Visit your sister … It’s been a minute,” one person wrote.
“I’ve never been invited out there, and she doesn’t visit [California]. I was living in Hawaii and now Spain,” Michael replied before mentioning Briana’s husband, Ryan Culberson, 42. “A couple years ago I said I wanted to visit when I was fairly close to Oklahoma, and she said it wasn’t a good time because of her husband who I don’t get along with very well.”
Another person asked, “Why haven’t [you] seen [your] sister in [eight] years??? Do [you] guys talk at least/FaceTime?”
“Ya we are in a group chat with my mom and have friendly personal convos. I would prefer if we could see each other in person! We were sending each other pugs we want a couple days ago,” Michael revealed.
