Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have made history, as the duo has set the new U.K. record for longest run atop the U.K.’s singles chart with their song “Rein Me In,” which has now spent 19 weeks at No. 1, the U.K.’s Official Charts Company announced on Friday.
Fender and Dean took the throne from the late Frankie Laine, who’d held the record for over 70 years as his 1953 hit “I Believe” spent 18 weeks atop the chart.
“Completely lost for words, thank you so much to Olivia Dean and the fans for making this song the juggernaut that it is,” Fender told the Official Charts company on Friday. “Can’t believe we broke the U.K. record!”
“Rein Me In” first made its way onto the U.K. single chart in June of 2025, steadily making its way up the ladder before finally reaching the top this past February. From then, it enjoyed the top spot for 19 non-consecutive weeks, only getting interrupted by Harry Styles’ “American Girls,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” Ariana Grande’s “Hate that I Made You Love Me” and Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
“Rein Me In” managed to outlast Shakira and Burna Boy’s global smash “Dai Dai,” which is the anthem to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” arguably the biggest song of the year in the U.S., reached a new peak at No. 3.
Stateside, “Rein Me In” currently sits at 69 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Dean has two top 10 songs in the U.S. herself with “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” and “Man I Need.”
