According to a report by What’s On Netflix, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson’s animated movie, Transformers One, will stream on Netflix starting October 15. The movie’s major focus is on the origin story of the two iconic characters, Megatron and Optimus Prime.
In addition to the original Avengers duo, the movie’s star-studded voice cast includes Vanessa Liguori, Brian Tyree Henry, Jon Hamm, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and many more. Despite the film’s star power, however, it underperformed at the box office compared to previous Transformers releases.
The movie opened with $24.6 million and went on to earn just over $59 million domestically. At the international box office, Transformers One earned just over $70.3 million, bringing its total lifetime collection to just under $129.5 million, according to Box Office Mojo. However, although the movie underwhelmed at the box office, critics praised it highly.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Transformers One got a score of 89 percent on the Tomatometer based on reviews from critics. It also received a near-perfect score of 97 percent on the Popcornmeter based on audience reviews. Johansson spoke about the movie with Collider in 2023 and said, “I’m playing Elita. The film doesn’t look like anything I’ve ever seen before; it looks so cool! The texture of it is so awesome.”
She further suggested that Transformers One is a different approach to the iconic franchise and described it as a “pretty exciting” take by Cooley.
