Miller recently discussed her new HBO drama, “War,” before reflecting on her daughter Marlowe Sturridge’s appearance at the series premiere. The teenager’s brief appearance with her mother quickly attracted attention online.
14-year-old Marlowe joined her mother on the red carpet, and the moment quickly spread online. Recalling the night, Miller said, “I was doing the red carpet, and for five seconds at the end, she gave me a hug.” She added, “I don’t think any one of us anticipated what would happen.”
Speaking with visible empathy for her daughter, Miller reflected that the sudden spotlight wasn’t necessarily welcome. “I felt like it was not a great thing for her at this point in her life,” she said. The 44-year-old added that Marlowe is “so young and so beautiful,” but more notably “incredibly clever and kind and funny.”
The actress went on to say that whether the attention is “positive or negative,” being aware of that level of scrutiny at Marlowe’s age “is not good.” She also added that her daughter now “wants to be locked up” and away from the exposure. Marlowe is Miller’s eldest child, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Tom Sturridge. Miller also has a 2-year-old daughter and a 5-month-old son with fiancé Oli Green. “War,” created by George Kay for HBO, follows a high-profile divorce case involving Miller’s character, Carla Duval.
