Baddest on the Bluff!

You already know we had to showcase Southern University and A&M College known for its world-famous Human Jukebox Marching Band (featured in the Michael marketing campaign), student-focused learning environment, and fabulous Dancing Dolls squad in the heart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Founded in 1880, the storied land-grant institution reigns as the nation’s only system of HBCUs, with campuses in Baton Rouge, New Orleans (SUNO), and Shreveport (SUSLA), plus an agricultural center and law center.
It also holds the distinction as the only HBCU in Louisiana with an engineering program which continues to rank among the Top 10 producers of Black students while producing the largest number of Black male nurses in the country.
With more than 30 academic programs awarding Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees, and representation from more than 20 countries, Southern is a cultural melting pot which aims to create global leadership opportunities for a diverse student population where teaching, research, service, scholarly and creative expectations for students and faculty are achieved through the university’s many highly-ranked programs.
What started with 3 teachers and 125 students expanded into a globally recognized brand that’s produced more than 40,000 graduates worldwide.
Notable alumni include David Banner, Randy Jackson, Branford Marsalis, Garrett Morris, NBA champion and former head coach Avery Johnson, NFL Hall of Famers Aeneas Williams and Mel Blount, MLB Hall of Famer Lou Brock, and more.
