Tom Hardy and Guy Ritchie’s Epic Crime Thriller Saga Soars on Streaming Ahead of New Season

Despite being heavily associated with one another, Tom Hardy and Guy Ritchie haven’t worked together as much as you’d think. In fact, the duo have only collaborated on one film and one TV series over the course of their careers: 2008’s RocknRolla, and a recent streaming hit that’s back on the charts ahead of the release of Season 2.

Premiering on Paramount+ on March 30, 2025, MobLand stars Hardy as Harry Da Souza, a highly capable fixer who works for the Harrigan family, which is led by Pierce Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan. Created by Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies, The Day of the Jackal), Ritchie serves as an executive producer on the series, which definitely shares DNA with his many crime thrillers thanks to its violence, British roots, and dark humor.

Also starring Helen Mirren as Conrad’s wife, Maeve, Paddy Considence as their son, Kevin, and Joanne Froggatt as Harry’s wife, Jan Da Souza, MobLand sees the Harrington’s at odds with the Stevenson gang. As their bitter rivalry threatens to escalate into an all-out war, Harry finds himself caught in the middle, navigating the troubled waters as he’s faced with deadly betrayals and shifting alliances.

Scoring a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes of 77%, MobLand became a critical darling upon its release. However, while pundits called it “intense, gritty, and psychological,” audiences weren’t as impressed, giving it a score of just 67%. Some complained that the plot was too convoluted, while others moaned that it didn’t feel like a Guy Ritchie series (it’s technically not). Still, even though it managed to prove quite divisive, MobLand is enjoying newfound success on streaming ahead of the release of Season 2.

Per Flix Patrol, MobLand is currently the seventh most popular hit overall on Paramount+ through Amazon Channels, sandwiched in between Adam Sandler’s Just Go with It in sixth, and the latest Scary Movie in eighth. Season 2 is set to premiere this Friday, Sept. 18, and Season 3 has already been given the go ahead.

Will Tom Hardy Be in ‘MobLand’ Season 3?

Contrary to popular belief, Hardy will be in MobLand Season 3 despite some reports stating he’d been fired. Earlier this year, there were claims that Hardy had clashed with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, with sources saying that Hardy was out.

However, while tensions behind the scenes may have been very real, it seems everything has been smoothed over (for now), with Paramount confirming that Hardy will be returning for MobLand Season 3. “Tom Hardy will return as Harry Da Souza, with Pierce Brosnan returning as Conrad Harrigan and Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan” the company said in their press release.
