Loved ones of Shanteria “KT” Mosley gathered Saturday evening to honor the beloved mother, sister, and friend with candles and a balloon release, just days after the 26-year-old’s dismembered remains were discovered at a Smyrna, Georgia apartment complex.
The emotional vigil came as Mosley’s grieving mother spoke about the unimaginable pain of losing her daughter and police announced a major development in the investigation: an 18-year-old suspect is now charged with her murder.
According to 11 Alive, Smyrna Police said Saturday that they believe Mosley was killed between 10 a.m. and noon on Sept. 23. Kingston Bradley, 18, is now charged with malice murder in addition to his initial charge of concealing the death of another person.

NewsOne reports that three days after her daughter’s remains were discovered, KT’s mother joined family and friends to remember the 26-year-old and spoke candidly about the devastating toll her death has taken.
“To see how I’ve seen my baby be out, I will never, ever like be the same again,” Mosley’s mother said at the vigil, according to 11Alive.
She added that even being inside her home has become difficult since losing her daughter.
“It feels so cold in my house, it’s not right, I got to sit up, I can’t even sleep in my bed,” she said.
The vigil offered Mosley’s loved ones an opportunity to remember the woman they affectionately called “KT” as more than the victim of an unthinkable crime.
Mosley’s aunt, Michelle Weaver, previously described her niece as someone known for “her smiles, laughter, and just full of joy,” adding that KT loved “being happy” and “cheering everybody day up.”
The gathering came as investigators released new information about KT’s death and the case against Bradley.
Kingston Bradley Now Charged With Malice Murder
According to 11Alive, police now believe KT was killed sometime between 10 a.m. and noon on Sept. 23.
Mosley was reported missing after her family was unable to reach her, and relatives eventually tracked her phone to the Park Valley Apartments off South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.
Her family previously told 11 Alive that they found KT’s vehicle and searched the surrounding woods and grassy areas before contacting police.
Weaver said an officer responded and asked the family where KT’s phone had last pinged.
“So we took her back to where the phone pinged,” Weaver told 11Alive. “She knocked on, like, three guys’ doors, and you know that was it.”
Smyrna Police told 11 Alive that the officer knocked on doors and spoke with people at the complex before leaving because authorities did not have information indicating that something was wrong at the time.
KT’s family, however, continued searching.
Weaver said that while looking around the complex, she spotted Bradley carrying what appeared to be a laundry bag containing a plastic tub. According to Weaver, Bradley dropped the bag after seeing her and ran.
“All we see is the boy,” Weaver said. “Throwing a bag, like something with a cloth. It’s like a bag kind of cloth, like maybe a laundry bag, and it had like a container in it. He kind of threw it and he ran.”
According to 11Alive, an arrest warrant stated that a dismembered torso was discovered inside the tub. KT’s family said they immediately recognized her by her tattoos.
Weaver has disputed any suggestion that police discovered her niece’s remains, maintaining that the family should never have been left to search the apartment complex alone.
“Don’t say y’all found her,” Weaver previously told 11Alive. “Her family found her. Y’all didn’t do nothing. Y’all left us. You guys left us to do it ourselves.”
Police Discover Additional Suspected Remains
The investigation has since led authorities to additional remains.
According to 11Alive, detectives searched a vehicle Friday night and discovered garbage bags containing body parts that investigators believe belong to Mosley.
Police said they did not receive any noise complaints or suspicious calls Wednesday in the area where KT’s remains were discovered. Authorities said people have since come forward with information and urged anyone who saw or heard anything between 10 a.m. and noon on Sept. 23 to contact investigators. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
As police continue piecing together the circumstances surrounding KT’s death, her loved ones are making sure the 26-year-old is remembered for the life she lived rather than solely for the horrific way it ended.
Saturday’s candles and balloons served as a tribute to the mother, sister, and friend whose family said was full of laughter, happiness, and an ability to brighten the days of those around her.
