
Victor Willis has sadly passed away at the age of 74.
He was the lead singer and a founding member of the fan favorite music group The Village People, known for their prevailing hits like “Y.M.C.A.,” “In The Navy” and “Go West.” Today (July 1) would have been his 75th birthday.

Victor Willis’ cause of death was referenced in a statement about his passing
On Facebook, the Village People announced the death of the founder.
“We are profoundly sad to announce the death of VICTOR WILLIS, lead singer of Village People,” they wrote.
They went on to explain, “Victor passed on Tuesday June 30, 2026 of a short but aggressive illness. Privacy is requested.”

Victor Willis’ wife Karen also shared a statement
She wrote a similar message on Facebook, stating, “It is with profound sadness that I must announce the death of my husband, VICTOR WILLIS. Victor passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2026 as a result of a short, but aggressive illness. The family request privacy at this time of great loss.”
