Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers from Silo Season 3.Silo has returned for its third season, and the story picks up three months after Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) was miraculously saved. I thought that Silo Season 2 told a thrilling story as the sci-fi dystopian series followed Juliette’s journey to Silo 17, where she met Solo/Jimmy (Steve Zahn) and discovered truths about the silo.
The trailer confirmed that Juliette lost her memory. We knew ahead of time that the story would explore the origins of the silo through flashbacks and would be based on the second Hugh Howey book, Shift. Season 3, Episode 1, “Who Are You?” sets up the exciting story to come and raises pressing questions that will hopefully be answered by the Season 3 finale.

When Will Jules Get Her Memory Back?
It’s not a question of if Jules will get her memory back in Silo Season 3,, but how and why. She is being drugged with a mysterious medication that is making her forget. We remember when Robert Sims (Common) told Patrick Kennedy (Rick Gomez) that he could give him something to forget the pain from his wife’s death. We also know that Juliette found the pills along with a note from a mysterious person telling her to meet them at the marketplace to find out the truth.
Julies is like a completely different person now that she’s in this state. She’s even unable to recognize her best friend Shirley (Remmie Milner) and her long-time co-worker Knox (Shane McRae). But most importantly, she can’t remember what happened when she was last with Bernard (Tim Robbins), where she went while she was out of the silo, and what she learned about the safeguard procedure. Since this is all crucial to the story, she needs to get her memories back sooner rather than later.

Who Sent Jules the Message?
The message hidden in Jules’ soup suggests she has an ally working under the radar to help her in a new mission. The question is who sent the message and who could hide it in the first place. Is this someone with good intentions who wants to help her? Should she trust them, or are they trying to figure out if she’s taking the pills?
Considering that Camille (Alexandria Riley) is the new head of IT and continues to push the narrative onto Jules that she managed to survive in a refuge hut and never came upon another silo, this mysterious person could be Jules’ only hope. This becomes particularly important when Camille realizes that Jules is learning more tidbits of information and wants her dosage of memory suppression drugs to be doubled.

Why Did Sims Kill Bernard?
It’s revealed that Bernard survived the fiery event at the end of Season 2, although he was severely burned and on the brink of death. It appears that Sims was ordered to kill Bernard to eliminate a problem and suffocated Bernard. Bernard’s body was then cremated in the incinerator.
This helps move the silo along as Bernard is blamed for all the wrongdoing, which will satisfy the anger of those who led and participated in the rebellion. Camille and others in leadership promise change. With Bernard out of the way and Jules unable to remember, they can work to restore order. However, Bernard’s murder weighs heavily on Sims, since he looked up to him. This will likely inform his character arc.

What Really Happened on Charlotte’s Mission?
In the sci-fi masterpiece show’s flashbacks, we see Daniel (Ashley Zukerman), the U.S. congressman who was featured in the post-credits scene of Season 2, discussing political issues and a potential terrorist attack with a reporter. In this episode, we learn that his sister Charlotte, (Jessica Brown Findlay), is a naval aviator pushing him onto a committee focused on Iran. It’s claimed that Iran set off a dirty bomb, and the U.S. may retaliate.
Later, Charlotte goes on a mission, despite her brother’s reservations, and we hear her on the radio calling Mayday before they go down. She manages to survive but has lost her memory after a traumatic brain injury. The details of the mission remain murky, however, and it’s clear it has something to do with how and why the silos were built.

Are Lukas and Patrick Really Dead?
It’s noted that both Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) and Patrick Kennedy are considered fugitives, and they are presumed dead. But are they really? The last time we saw Lukas, he had cracked the code and learned the truth about the safeguard procedure. In fact, Lukas tells Bernard about it, which shakes Bernard to his core and results in his decision to go outside. Lukas tells no one, even when confronted by Sims with a gun, who wants to know the truth. It’s unclear where Lukas goes after he says goodbye to his mother.
However, we didn’t see Kennedy for much of Season 2. He had been seriously injured and was being treated. It’s unlikely that Patrick and Lukas are together, but if they are both still alive, which is likely, they could come together to help Jules. More importantly, if Jules comes face-to-face with Lukas, he’s the one person who can tell her about the safeguard procedure and help her remember.

Who Has Been Stealing From Supply?
In a side storyline of the compelling hard sci-fi show, we learn that supplies have gone missing, and no one can figure out how, why, and who’s taking them. It’s unclear how this might play into the larger plot, and if it has anything to do with the leadership or a tactic by those still hoping for a rebellion. Whatever the case, that story may develop further.
Naturally, since the silo has finite resources, it could be extremely dangerous if the characters can’t reproduce the stolen items. With Carla (Clare Perkins) as head of supply, this storyline will continue to involve her character, potentially giving her a bigger role.

How Does Charlotte’s Memory Loss Play Into the Story?
It’s easy to see the connections between what’s happening to Jules and what Charlotte is experiencing after her brain injury. While Charlotte’s condition appears to be the result of her traumatic brain injury, it’s far too similar to what is happening with Jules to be only that. There has to be a connection, which will clearly be explored through Silo Season 4.
Is it possible that these memory suppression drugs were being used or experimented on as part of a political program hundreds of years ago before the creation of the silos? This would make sense since it’s unlikely that this drug was created in the silo with its limited resources. As the two stories develop concurrently, there are sure to be connections between them.
