Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott have reportedly welcomed their first child, with the couple choosing to keep the news away from the public spotlight. Plaza was recently photographed carrying a newborn in New York City, several months after reports of her pregnancy first emerged. The couple are said to have welcomed a baby girl in late July.
Aubrey Plaza’s new photos confirm first baby with Christopher Abbott
Aubrey Plaza has been photographed carrying a newborn in New York City, providing the first public confirmation that she and Christopher Abbott have become parents. The actress was seen with the baby on Sunday after attending Abbott’s final performance in Broadway’s Death of a Salesman. According to TMZ, the couple welcomed a baby girl during the final week of July.
The sighting comes several months after Plaza’s pregnancy became public. Report about the actress expecting her first child surfaced in April, followed by photos showing her baby bump. At the time, a source said Plaza and her family felt “very blessed”, describing the pregnancy as “a beautiful surprise after an emotional year.”
Plaza and Abbott have also shared a professional history. The pair appeared together in the 2020 film Black Bear and later reunited for the off-Broadway production Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Abbott has since taken on the role of Biff Loman in the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman, with his final performance taking place Sunday.
The birth comes after a difficult chapter in Plaza’s personal life. Her estranged husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, died in January 2025 at the age of 47. Plaza and Baena had reportedly separated about four months before his death.
Plaza and Abbott have generally avoided discussing their personal lives in detail, and neither has publicly announced the birth or shared additional information about their daughter.
