After months of anticipation, Marvel Studios released the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. The trailer not only showcased various crossovers among heroes but also provided the first full look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Even though the trailer sparked a great deal of online conversation, ranging from excitement for the epic team-up to criticism of the MCU in recent years, it appears all eyes were on the Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
According to Variety, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer garnered 503 million views in one day. It marked the biggest debut for a trailer in Disney’s history, beating the record previously set by Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Super Bowl spot, which reached 365 million views in 2024. Avengers: Doomsday is the second-biggest trailer launch in history, behind Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with 719 million views.
Avengers: Doomsday trailer launch also coincided with the first wave of tickets, branded with the Infinity Vision label, going on sale. Variety reports Avengers: Doomsday has generated $16.5 million in advance ticket sales after the first day of availability. The number is even more impressive, considering tickets were available only in premium formats and only at 1,000 domestic theaters. An industry source told Variety that premium formats on Thursday, December 17, and Friday, December 18, are already largely sold out. More premium showtimes, along with standard screenings, will be added at an unknown date.
With Marvel Studios’ two 2026 releases becoming the two most-viewed trailers of all time, it certainly shows there is still an appetite among audiences for superheroes, particularly MCU movies. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently on track to become the biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, with estimates ranging from $180 million to $228 million. It will be curious if Avengers: Doomsday can open as high, or if the competition from Dune: Part Three on the same day will eat into the film’s opening weekend.
The Avengers: Doomsday trailer debuted days before San Diego Comic-Con. With the Marvel Studios panel scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 25, the studio is likely to show exclusive scenes for both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. There are also rumors that Marvel Studios might announce its cast for the upcoming X-Men reboot or reveal previously unannounced roles in Avengers: Doomsday. Now that the trailer is available to the general audience, Marvel Studios will hopefully have something big for the Hall H audience.
