Hey, Days of Our Lives fans. So, Dominic Marino is arriving in Salem any day now. His official first air date is Monday, November 2nd. But honestly, I would not be surprised to catch a glimpse of Kyle Pryor making his debut on October 30th during Salem‘s Halloween, with Dominic showing up in a black masquerade mask.
And once he’s in town, he’s going to meet many of his siblings from both sides of his family tree: those sired by his father, Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo), and other kids made by his mom, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall). I’m just wondering if Dominic arrives with a grudge against his siblings. Let’s talk about it.
Days of Our Lives: What We Know About Dominic
So, we know more now than we ever have about Dominic Marino, but not enough yet. Stefano’s latest offspring is a reclusive Italian billionaire hedge fund guy, but I’m sure Dominic’s heading to Salem to stake a claim on Stefano’s empire, and maybe even the family home.
Marlena recently found out that, quite improbably, she seems to have a son with Stefano out of nowhere. Dominic was born during the time Marlena was held captive by Stefano on his island back in the early ’90s. And for some of that time, Marlena was in a coma.
Also during that period, she was a surrogate to Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) and Kate Roberts‘s (Lauren Koslow) Gemini twins. But Marlena has no memories of being pregnant with a child of her own while she was in captivity. And lots of fans are wondering if Stefano harvested Marlena’s eggs, used his sperm, and then Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) was their surrogate.
Rita and Dante’s Roles on DOOL
We also know that Dominic’s been operating from his Italian palazzo with help from Rita, who’s known him his whole life and is a longtime DiMera henchwoman, and with assistance also from Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti), his boarding school buddy, who just happens to be Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney)’s fiancé, even though Dante swears it’s a coincidence.
So, Rita was the one dropping clues to Belle Black (Martha Madison) and Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) when they were going down that chess set rabbit hole. And those clues led Chad, Belle, and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) to Dominic’s home. And that’s where EJ noticed that he had the exact chess set that Stefano bequeathed to Marlena, plus some of Stefano’s rare cigars and his favorite booze.
Days of Our Lives: Dominic’s Family Tree
Unless there’s a twist that changes things around, Dominic is Marlena’s secret son with Stefano, who apparently had known Dominic his whole life and was involved with him, as evidenced by that childhood photo of Stefano and Dominic that Belle, EJ, and Chad found, clearly because Dominic left it out for them.
That makes him, on Marlena’s side, a half-brother to Belle, Sami, and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan). Plus, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf)’s got Marlena as a beloved stepmom, since she married John Black (Drake Hogestyn) when Brady was very young. So that means even though Dominic and Brady aren’t blood siblings at all, they’re going to interact.
On Stefano’s side, Dominic is also half-brother to EJ, to Chad, to Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), and to Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). There’s also adoptive and presumed-dead sibling Peter Blake (Dan Gauthier). And there’s Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) and Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash), also presumed dead.
Plus, Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson) is on the loose, and Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) died again recently. So, I think Dominic potentially could have a bone to pick with each of his living half-siblings for one reason or another, and the adoptive siblings, too. So, we could see some wicked sibling rivalry.
Dominic Versus EJ on DOOL
EJ’s on high alert, as he should be, because Dominic seems to be on a mission to destroy EJ and take his spot as the presumed heir. Rita even snatched Stefano’s Phoenix ring that Dr. Rolf had given EJ. And now that’s on Dominic’s finger, and he’s flashing it from the moment he arrives in Salem. That’s going to irritate EJ, who may demand it back.
Plus, Dominic tried to buy the Kiriakis mansion out from under EJ until the deal fell through. And I suspect Dominic gave up on the deal, not so much because of Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Susanne Rogers) and the Kiriakis crew trashing the house so it failed inspection, because obviously Dominic could have afforded all the repairs. But I think he dropped it because the Kiriakis family no longer needed to sell it. So EJ was out of luck. And I think that was the only reason he ever wanted it.
So Dominic may resent EJ for being the favored son and the legitimate, public-facing head of the DiMera empire and family. Dominic could also see EJ as a direct threat to his master plan. And I’m sure Dominic sees EJ as the biggest obstacle to his takeover scheme. But thankfully, Rita was sabotaging EJ for him.
Days of Our Lives: Chad and the Chess Set Mystery
And then we’ve got Chad. So Dominic may be annoyed with Chad for dating Dominic’s half-sister, Belle, or for Chad inserting himself into the chess set mystery that was meant for Marlena and John. They were the ones who were supposed to follow the clues to find Dominic in Italy.
But Stefano died before John did, and that wrecked Stefano’s plan to humiliate and punish his pawn, John, by flaunting the son that Stefano made with Marlena. Plus, Chad is one of the good DiMeras. That may bother Dominic, also.
And initially, when Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) revealed the chess set bequest, if you remember, Marlena refused to accept Stefano’s gift. That might have set Dominic off.
Days of Our Lives: Tony and the DiMera Enterprises Takeover
And we know he arrives in Salem just before Lexie’s celebration of life. And another of Dominic’s siblings, Tony, is in town for that. So, I suspect Dominic is going to make himself known to everybody by crashing Lexie’s memorial.
Dominic may also resent Tony for being part of Stefano’s life publicly all these years, and for the status and acceptance he also gets as one of the few good DiMeras. So Dominic and Tony could also clash if Dominic wants to take over DiMera Enterprises, because Tony’s heavily involved. He’s the one who put Theo in place as CEO, but now he’s quit, and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) wants to quit, too. So that’s primed for a Dominic takeover right now.
DOOL: Will Kristen Pledge Loyalty to Dominic?
Kristen is also still lurking in Salem. She would probably introduce herself once she finds out Dominic’s in town. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kristen offers Dominic her loyalty, because she despises EJ. And Kristen may even ask for Dominic’s protection from EJ. But Dominic may also resent Kristen for living openly as a DiMera, even though Stefano adopted her and she wasn’t his bio kid.
Neither was Peter. So they might get along, though. We’ll see, because Dominic and Kristen both have shadowy, manipulative sides. But Dominic may not like that Kristen turned on the DiMeras and tried to murder her own nephew. That’s not a good look on Days of our Lives. Plus, Dominic may not like that Kristen had a kid with Brady, who’s as close to Marlena as any of her bio kids.
Days of Our Lives: Marlena’s Kids in Dominic’s Crosshairs
So, I also think Brady’s going to be very protective of Marlena where Dominic’s concerned. And Stefano might have taught Dominic to hate Brady’s dad, John, and therefore also hate Brady. So, we could see sibling rivalry where Dominic resents the other kids that were raised by Marlena, and the affection that she has for them. We’re talking about Belle and Eric and Sami.
I’m sure that Dominic knows lots about Marlena’s kids from Dante spilling pillow talk secrets that he picked up from Sami, because she may actually also be part of Dominic’s agenda, since her fiancé, Dante, is so close to Dominic. And of course, Eric was always Marlena’s golden boy. So, Dominic may resent him, too.
We’ll see how it goes, and whether Dominic has issues with all the kids that Stefano and Marlena had individually, or raised, or adopted, or if Dominic solely has an issue with EJ, because he’s sitting at the top of the heap and is king of the DiMera castle, when that’s where Dominic thinks he should be sitting. So, he may target EJ and then actually play nice with his other siblings while plotting behind their backs, Stefano style.
