Shape the Fate of the Seven Kingdoms in the World of Westeros

A trick-taking game is a type of card game where players take turns playing one card each into a round. The highest card wins what’s called the “trick,” as players attempt to score the most points to win the game. The first edition of Masters of Intrigue will see players representing the noble Houses of the franchise, including Baratheon, Stark, Lannister, Greyjoy, and Tyrell. Each House has its own master of intrigue, and this card is among the most powerful in the game.

When each game is started, one player is selected to be the Hand of the King. This person must select a card and place it on the table, while other players must then decide if they play aligned with the lead house, or in rebellion, depending upon which card they pick. Tricks are taken based on how many allied cards are played versus the rebellion cards, and the goal is to collect as many points as possible in each cycle. The game goes until all cards are played, at which point scoring begins. The player with the most points is then declared the King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

“In Masters of Intrigue, players take on the roles of schemers and strategists from across Westeros, using bluffing, alliances, and betrayal to rise above their rivals,” the official description reads. “In each round of this trick-taking game, you’ll play cards representing the great Houses, choosing when to support the current power—or when to backstab and seize control for yourself.”

It continues, “Every decision counts: who you align with, when you betray, and how well you read your opponents. Hidden agendas, shifting allegiances, and clever timing are the keys to victory. With iconic Houses like Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and more in play, each game captures the ruthless politics of Westeros in under an hour. Quick to learn but rich in strategy, Masters of Intrigue is perfect for fans who crave sharp turns, bold plays, and unforgettable betrayals.”
