Filming on season 3 of Taylor Sheridan‘s Landman is expected to start soon — but there has been a delay.
James Jordan recently spoke exclusively to Us at the Lioness premiere about reuniting with Sheridan on Landman, saying, “It’s going to be fantastic. Taylor is writing as we speak. It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes — just like season 1 and season 2 have been. Billy Bob and everybody, we’re all ready to get back to work.”
The actor, who plays Dale, hinted at a shakeup.
“I believe we’re bringing back the same director, Stephen Kay, who I adore. So it’s going to be a great ride,” Jordan noted. “We start that sometime in September and we’ll shoot that through the first quarter of next year.”
Taylor Sheridan‘s hit series Landman was renewed for season 3 — but which stars are and aren’t returning after that shocking firing? Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman is focused on the West Texas oil industry with a specific focus on crisis executive Tommy Norris and his family. The Paramount+ show, which premiered in […]
He continued: “Then we should have it out … I don’t know when. It’s up to the powers that be, but we’re very excited to get started on that.”
Based on the “Boomtown” podcast, Landman joins the ranks of Sheridan’s hits including Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves and more. The Paramount+ series, which premiered in 2024, introduced Billy Bob Thornton as a corporate fixer working for an oil titan in a West Texas-set drama with life-and-death stakes.
Landman was expected to go back into production in August. According to Jordan, the entire cast is expected back.
“No, I would not be concerned [about my future on the show],” he added. “I don’t know everything, but I would not be concerned.”
Jordan teased how thrilled the cast was to start working on season 3 soon, adding, “Everybody’s very excited to get back to work. It’s going to be a great time. We’re pumped to get back to the Fort Worth area and shoot season 3.”
Despite the delay, Jordan got a surprise from Sheridan.
The Landman cast has often spoken about their experiences working with Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan on his new hit series. Sheridan’s work started in front of the camera before he transitioned to writing credits on Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. From there, Sheridan created Yellowstone, which broke records at Paramount Network. The hit […]
“I’ve got the season 3 script. It was sent to me right in this phone,” he shared. “I will guard it with my life. But I snuck a quick peek. I really have to read it later, but it’s going to be amazing.”
As one of Sheridan’s frequent collaborators, Jordan is also looking forward to season 3 of Lioness being released on Sunday, August 2.
“I can’t say no to the man. He’s my favorite writer in our business. I admire him. He’s a mentor. He’s a friend,” Jordan gushed to Us. “No one works harder than Taylor. He never compromises. And when someone comes to you and says, ‘Hey man, I want to use you again in a project.’ If someone works that hard and comes to you and says, ‘I trust you, I believe in you, I’m confident in your ability,’ then you show up. You want to work your butt [off] for him.”
Jordan celebrated the chance to keep working with Sheridan.
“You want to get it right. You want to tell the story the way he wants to tell the story. I love going to work for him,” he added. “So he’s an extraordinary guy.”
Lioness returns to Paramount+ on Sunday, August 2.
