Over the last decade, Taylor Sheridan has become one of the most prominent names in television and streaming through the shows he has created. He started this run with the neo-Western drama Yellowstone in 2018, telling the story of the Dutton family as they operate the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. This series became one of the biggest hits in recent TV history, with Season 5 (the show’s final season) garnering 16.4 million views. Its viewership has helped spawn multiple spin-offs, including 1888, 1923, and the newest entry, Dutton Ranch, and those stories are still expanding.
Also part of that group is Marshals, which was created by Spencer Hudnut and began airing on CBS in Mar. 2026. This show follows Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton as he leaves the Dutton Ranch to join an elite team of U.S. Marshals in Montana, protecting the area from militias, cartels, and other problems while also trying to handle his family’s legacy. This series became another massive success for Sheridan’s franchise, premiering with 9.52 million viewers and ranking as the most-watched new show of the 2025-26 season. It was subsequently renewed for a second season less than a month later, and new footage is already teasing what to expect.
People released the first official teaser for Season 2 of Marshals, the latest spin-off in the Yellowstone franchise. Revisiting the Dutton legacy, Kayce tells an unknown man that he has not heard all of the stories about his powerful family. Gil Birmingham’s Rainwater then teases that “nobody escapes unscathed with death and violence” before some of the action is unveiled. The trailer shows Kayce riding on horseback, pointing his gun at a moving vehicle, and as the car flips in the air, he rides away with a satisfied look on his face. Watch the full teaser for Marshals Season 2 on the People website.
Season 1 of Marshals ended on a massive cliffhanger, which showed Belle (Arielle Kebbel) and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) being ambushed by gunmen who were hired by Tom Wheeler (Chris Mulkey). Kayce unknowingly sends his son, Tate (Breken Merrill), off on a fishing trip with Wheeler as well, although Wheeler has malicious intentions behind this move. Before boarding a private plane, one of Wheeler’s henchmen tells him, “It’s handled,” setting up plenty of drama for the new season. Only time will tell where the story goes from here for the youngest Dutton son and the rest of his team.
Marshals Season 2 is expected to debut on CBS in Fall 2026, and it will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
