Millie Bobby Brown has revealed that her Stranger Things co-stars were often confused by her eating habits. In a recent interview, the British actress said she’d get “food-shamed” by her American peers.
Stranger Things’ costars couldn’t handle Millie Bobby Brown’s lunch
During her recent appearance on Hot Ones, Millie Bobby Brown recalled bringing various British foods as her lunch on the set of Stranger Things. However, the delicacies would often perplex her American co-stars.
“When I was on Stranger Things, I used to get food-shamed a lot,” Brown shared. The actress recalled, “When I would go on, they’d be all American, and they’d be like, ‘Mate, what the f‑‑‑ are you eating?’”
Brown explained, “Because they were like, ‘It’s like you live in the 1800s and you found some, like, speciality. It’s, like, wrapped in tinfoil.’” The actress said that she often had to go “hide in a corner” to have her lunch in peace.
“They’d be like, ‘What is that?’” Brown recalled with a chuckle. “And I was just like, ‘…It’s a jacket potato with beans and cheese. It’s nothing,’” she explained.
Brown went on to share that her lunches get the exact opposite reaction when she works in the U.K. “So they didn’t get it,” Brown said of her American peers, before sharing, “But when I go on set in England, everyone’s like, ‘Having a jacket! Lovely!’”
Earlier in the interview, Brown also talked about her mother’s cooking. “Spag Bol is pretty much the only thing my mum can cook,” she explained, referring to spaghetti bolognese. “It’s, like, Friday, mum’s like, ‘I’m making another spag bol!’ And I’m like, ‘Mum, we’ve had it, like, three times this week. We can’t have any more spag bols.”
Brown shared that Spag Bol is one of her favorite dishes. “When I’m in England, I don’t really order it at a restaurant; it’s really just gotta be my mum’s,” she said.
