Kellan Lutz has admitted he felt “stressed and desperate” after Twilight. He is mostly known for playing the iconic character Emmett Cullen in the blockbuster film franchise that ran from 2008 to 2012.
Speaking on a recent episode of Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Lutz revealed the disturbing period he went through once the Twilight franchise ended. He felt immense pressure while auditioning for other projects because he wanted to keep his career thriving the way it had, thanks to the enormous success of Twilight films.
“I was, you know, going out for Captain America and Thor and the pressure was really, really on,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, I need to be so regulant and strict and do this and do that. And then I’d get so bummed on myself.”
He mentioned that he became so “stressed and desperate” that he lost himself as a person. Once, he even tried to imitate Jason Statham’s voice style to bring heaviness in his own voice. He later realized that it didn’t feel like he was being himself anymore.
Life after Twilight proved more difficult than Kellan Lutz expected
While he did witness an unprecedented success with the Twilight franchise, Kellan Lutz confessed that it wasn’t always a smooth ride being a popular face. Recalling the times of hiding from paparazzi, who used to catch him whenever he stepped out of his home, Lutz revealed that it was all quite annoying.
“I wasn’t able to leave. And then I lived at the beach and you know I’d be in magazines topless like, ‘Oh look at this guy. He just cares about his physique.’ I’m like, I love the beach! I live by the beach!”
However, the actor remains highly grateful to have been a part of the Twilight movies. It’s because of the popular franchise that he got to witness so much attention and limelight.
Speaking of his recent projects, the American actor and model was seen in last year’s action thriller movie Desert Dawn. Directed by Marty Murray, its cast also featured Helena Haro and Mike Ferguson, among others.
