Pokémon Worlds just wrapped up, and in the closing ceremonies, Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara confirmed multiple updates for several games, and one huge surprise. After a performance by Ed Sheeran live at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, Ishihara took to the stage to introduce a flurry of news, as is customary with the end of Worlds.
Announcements include Pokémon Champions, Pokémon Go, Pokémon TCG, and even confirmation of the next Worlds. Here’s all the details on everything confirmed, including the return of Pokémon to a form of media that fans have been asking for a long time.
More Megas Are Coming To Go And Champions
Pokémon Go is adding an extra charged attack (bringing the total up to three choices when battling), which is going to significantly alter how battles play out from now on, including in future Worlds events. They can be brought into all levels of the Go Battle League.
As for Pokémon Champions, the current format for competitive VGC play will add more Mega Evolutions, including Mega Lucario Z, Mega Absol Z, and Mega Garchomp Z. Rillaboom and Baxcalibur are in as well, and they should see competitive play as soon as they’re introduced. All of that is coming on September 9, 2026, to Pokémon Champions..
Mega Heatran was revealed as well, but The Pokémon Company said to “stay tuned for more details” on that release.
Pokémon TCG Is Getting A New Series
As far as the TCG is concerned, Mega Lucario Z is entering the fray as a Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, plus there’s a new ex* series on the way. Some cards were shown off as well, which you can view in the gallery above.

Pokémon Worlds 2027 Will Be Held In Singapore
Before leaving the stage, Ishihara confirmed the location of Pokémon Worlds 2026: Singapore. Here’s everything we know so far: “The 2027 Pokémon World Championships will make its return to Asia, visiting beautiful Singapore for the very first time. Trainers will compete and fans will celebrate at Singapore EXPO over the weekend of August 13–15, 2027.”
If you’ve been attending Worlds each year so far, start planning ahead. Although it’s not clear if Pokemon Worlds 2027 will also incorporate a Pokemon XP event like 2026, more info will come eventually. The Pokemon Company likely needs to take stock of how everything went in 2026 first.
Pokemon Wild Card: The Movie Is Coming
The big announcement is a brand-new movie coming to the Pokémon universe. It’s called Pokémon: Wild Card, and will deal with a TCG player and their Mimikyu. Given the lack of recent film releases from The Pokémon Company, this came as a welcome surprise to the crowd, who burst out in applause as soon as it was announced.
