Universal Studios Hollywood has officially closed a long-running Fast & Furious attraction. Fast & Furious: Supercharged will end its run at the park’s World-Famous Studio Tour in August after nearly 10 years.
Per Universal Studios Hollywood, Fast & Furious: Supercharged will take its final ride this Summer. According to Scott Gustin on X, the last day to experience the attraction is Aug. 16 as the park begins preparing for its upcoming high-speed outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. The attraction opened as part of the Studio Tour and was designed to drop guests into the middle of a high-speed chase connected to the blockbuster franchise.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged Is Closing at Universal Studios Hollywood
The closure marks the end of one chapter for Fast & Furious at Universal Studios Hollywood, but not the end of the franchise’s presence in the park. Fast & Furious: Supercharged used large-scale screen technology and practical tram movement to make guests feel like they were racing alongside characters from the movies. The attraction featured appearances from franchise stars including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Luke Evans.
Universal’s decision to close the attraction comes as the park shifts toward a larger and more intense Fast & Furious experience. The change reflects Universal’s larger move toward more physically immersive franchise attractions.
According to the Universal Studios website, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is scheduled to open in summer 2026 and will be the first high-speed outdoor roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. The coaster will feature 360-degree rotating ride vehicles designed to simulate the feeling of drifting at speeds up to 72 mph. The new ride will also feature vehicles inspired by cars from the franchise. Universal has already revealed several designs, including a Dodge Charger tied to Dominic Toretto, a Mazda RX-7 inspired by Han, a Nissan Skyline GT-R associated with Brian O’Conner, and the orange Toyota Supra also connected to Brian.
This Isn’t the Only Thing Ending in the ‘Fast & Furious’ World
Fast & Furious: Supercharged’s closure comes as the larger franchise readies for its final lap. The main Fast & Furious series is set to conclude with Fast Forever, also known as Fast 11, bringing an end to the storyline that began with 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. What started as a street-racing crime movie eventually became one of Universal’s biggest, wildest, global action franchises, expanding across sequels, spin-offs and massive set pieces.
That makes this moment feel like a larger changing of the guard for the brand. Vin Diesel recently indicated on social media that production on Fast Forever has begun, giving the long-awaited sequel its first major sign of momentum after years of delays (the studio has denied this is the case). Fast Forever is currently expected to arrive in 2028, five years after Fast X. This marks the longest gap between entries in the franchise. With the ride closing and the core series nearing its end, Universal is saying goodbye to one version of Fast & Furious while preparing to keep the franchise alive in a new form.
